WHOLE NUMBER 1214

Brick Pomeroj.

Vomcroy has prepared the following« articles for his vUUfiers to publish. Their"" numerous styles of published abuse of liiui often need force in many essentials,,^ The Republican press will find, it very convenient. Ho says

This.wrctch Pomeroj-—M. M. Pome» ioy—Mark Murderous Pomeroy, the soul-.. less wretch and fiendish ghoul who edits the LaCrosse Democrat (Daily $10— Weekly per year, in advance), is tho delegate to hell who drove the nation to tears by instigating a braver and bn.tter man than himself to murder our dear.

good President—should be shot by nn." gels—hung by devils—his eyes plucked) out by fiends—-his liver made into cod liver oil by ghouls—his heart roasted by Indiana—his logs efcwcd up and strained through raw hemp—his head shaved and given to the devil lor a beetle head—his back drilled full of holes aud moltciv potash run (herein—his head scalded by tho hot tears of sorrowful Abolitionists shed when lamented Lincoln Was slain—his overcoat made into iron, lieatfcd red-hot and wrapped around him, while ice-Water trickled down his backbone. And after he is dead, bugs, pismires, provost-mar-shals, Abolitionists, and other damnable plagues should seize him, boar him toward •, the blue dome till ho could hear Lincoln singing "Tramp—Tramp—1Tramp,"wlien^ by a. speein* °r Divine Providence, mi the clouds should be steel pointed, and should be rolled and tossed by an oat-'' raged people till there was not encjgH'' left of the nigra to, traitor, fiend, hyena, villain, murderer, secessionist, &c., to bo worth sending to the hell he merits.

Oh for a candle-mold to squirt hot tallow on him! ,-.*1$ V, Oh for a thunderbolt, fresh forged by Jove himself, to hurl into his breadbas* ket!

Oh for a pair of vipers to' mako Into arrows, to shoot puinpkin-sced sidewiso into the cuss!

Something like the 'abeve would suit us—perhaps a little more severe on somo points, but after that style.

Fact and I'liilnnlhropy.

FACT—The frecdmen won't work, eveir supply the most pressing.necessity.'-'

to supply the most pressing, necessity. PUILANTUUOPY—Then give each of' them a forty-acre farm. •.

FACT—Tlicy hang about tfie towns toj beg and steal. PIIIL.—Then amend the LA.W& 'so as' to allow them to sit on juries and testify ia" the courts.

FACT—They are naked and h'omeless(! and unless relieved, will starve to 4path PIIIL.—Then establish schools for tlieiif education, aud churches for their convert sion.

FACT—They have neither foresight aoi? economy, and are at once helpless and dangerous.

PIIIL.—Then obliterate in your society all distinctions on account of color. v%' FACT—They destroy their children, and arc themselves infected with loathsomo diseases. .j

PIIIL.—No higher proof could be giv* en of the unity of the human race, or of the higher moral endowments of the African. Give them an abtrtfdaflce orbibles, tracts and testaments.

FACT—The 'women prostitute themselves, and the men aid them in the traf* lie and divide with them the proceeds.

PIIIL.—-This proves their eminent fitness for the holy state of matrimony, which, with the aid of Divine Providence, we have introduced among them.

FACT—They are universally unfaithful in the marriage relation. PIIIL.—This only shows how like they are to ourselves.,f

The Vote on the Mane law.

For the purpose of showing who thosd Republicans are ..that haye lately united with the Democrats in opposition to the u, aud luilped'to defeat the measure, and arc entitled to our cordial thanks as well as welcome, we publish the vote in the House, politically classified.

Thus the following Republicans voted' for the bill: Atkinson, Bonner, Branliam, Burns, Caldwell, Chambers, Cox, Crook, Davidson, Ferris, Gregory, Griffith, Ilamrick, Hcrshey, Hogate, Hoover, Johnson, Lane^ Major, Miller, Montgomery, lledsci, Sabin, Rhoads, Shuey, Stuart, Stringea*, Sullivan, Welch, Woodruff, Wright, Zeigler—32

Tho following Republicans voted against

1 1

Boyd, Church, Cowgill, Cook, Fouike, Gleason, Goodmau, Gregory, Groves, Henrick, Iliggins, Kilgore, Litson, Meredith, McVey, Newcomb, Olleman, Prather, Rice, lliford, Sim, Woods, Pettit—23

It thus appears that a large majority of the Republicans icere for the bill, and it would have passed had not tho twentythree Republicans above named come over and united, to defeat it, with the follow ing Democrats:

Bird, Brown, Burton, Burwell, 13tis kirk, Collins, Coffrotli, Croan, Glazebrook,.'. Gregg, Hargroye, HarrisoUj Howard, Humphreys, Lasselle, Lemon, Loup, Milroy, Osborne, Pattefsoti, Perigo, Richard' son, Roach, Shoaf, Spencer, Thatcher) Veach, Meikle, White—29.
