Relative to I'eddlerN nnd Ilnwkcrn. SEC. 1. He it ordained by the mayor and common council of the city of Crawfordsville, That, it shall hereafter be unlawful for any street Peddler, hawker or other itinerant retailer wholesale dealer in goods, wfres or merchandize, to offer the same for saloin wagon*, earringes, or otherwise, within snid oity without having obtained license for that purposo.

SEC. 2. No liccnse shall be issued for a less period than two days, nor a greater period than one year, and all license shall be signed by the mayor, and countersigned and registered by tho clerk.

SEC, 3." It shall be the duty of the city clerk to make out all licenses grunted to peddlers and hawkers, and issue tho same on receiving from the applicant the license of the mayor, and the city treasurer's receipt for twenty dollars for a license running one year, and lor any less period, a sum at the discretion of tho mayor.

SEC. 4 Every hawker, peddler, or other person goingabout or through the city, either on foot,or with a horse, or otherwise carrying to sell, or exposingfor sale, any goods, wares or merchandise without liceusc, upi conviction thereof before the mayor, shall be punished by a line in any sum not less than one dollar, nor more than fifty dollars.

SEC, 5. If any such hawker, peddler, or other person as a foresaid, shall refuse to show his, her, or their license, when requested by any" person to whom he, she, or they shall offer to sell any of his, her, or their goods, wares or merchandize, or to the marshal of tho city, or his deputies, shall be punished in the same manner as for exposing tho samo for sale without license.

SEC. i. Nothing in this Ordinance contained, shall be construed to apply to the renders of vegetable?, or other articles ot food provided, also, colporteurs distributing religious books or tracts only, shall bo exempt.
