as by so doing they will save cost. The law makes it the duty of tne County Treasurer to collect all Taxes due, and ray intention is to fill the law to the letter. hen a Treasurer fails to collect all Taxes, er collects from one portion of the people and not from the other, ho fails to discharge his duty, for the law makes all men equally able to pay. The man that has only One Hundred Dollars' worth of properly has but about one dollar of Taxes to pay. and the man with One Thousand Dollars' worth of property lias about ten dollars to pay: so you can see at once that all men are equally able to pay, and all men have the same privileges under the law alike, nnd should all pay theirequal portion of Taxes and when the Treasurer fails to collect of one portion of the people and collects from the other, ho suffers the paying portion to be imposed upon. From this fact, if the amount of Taxes in this County is One Hundred Thousand Dollars, and Twent-five Thousand of that amount is delinquent, of course the taxes will still be higher on those that pay promptly for there has got to be so much iiiuiio.r raised, and those that pay up promptly have to "foot the billL"
Now the law is ns follows in regard to collecting Delinquent Taxes: The Treasurer can take any personal property and sell it at any time and there is no prop- [are kepi, is to eall on erty exempt in any way whatever. There is no one that would as much dislike to take and sell property from any one as myself, but there is not nor cannot be, anything wrong in so doing. Those who have not paid, and fail to do so within this next three months, will find the law carried out without respect to persons. So please coll and settle 011 or before the time specified, and all will be right.
