The If Evening Post, a Republican organ dispels the fovoritc theory of its party that the duties on goods imported into tbe aecedcd. States can be collected on *lHpbo4rd Arc our readers, asks the Post, aware what a fleet this would require? There are^even collcction districts in the little State of Florida alone and there arc four in Alabama. At every port there most be a collector, with his army of appraisers, clerks, csammers, inspectors, weighers, gaugefs7 riieaSirers, &c. there must be a ^aval Officer and bis staff of entry clerks: The Morrill tariff law, which we hare just cnacted, will make a larger number of all these necessary than would have been required a month ago. Where twenty itfen would then have answered the purpose, thirty will now be needed. If wc collect the revenue in this manner, with a fleet at every port, and a corps of custom house officers on board, it will cost us a great deal more than all wc shall get. But can the revenue be thus collectcd? The importers arriving at the Southern harbors will know how to address the custom house officers. "We have a cargo," they will naturally say, "on which wc do not care to pay duties just at present we must deposit it in the warehouses for the term during which we arc permitted to do so by law." What will the officers of the customs do in that case? The government has no longer any warehouses in the seceding ports. The hold of an armed vessel would neither be a proper nor a sufficiently spacious repository tor the goods. Tbe duties in that case cannot be collected and the collcctor will be puzzled to know whether to let the ship procecd to her port or to detain her.

For rheumatism, coughs, colds, bnrna. cholern. tendencies and difficulties, as well as diseases generally that provail in families. I regiTd the Pain Killer as beyond all pripe, and as efficacious beyond any medicinewlthin, my knowledge. We keep it as our chief familyinedicinC. andfind its use in ordinary emi wprth more tSan any doctor. The testimony of'othors among my acquaintances and friends is equally favorable. Many clergymen have spoken of it in the highest terms as a family medicine. Missionaries in repeated instance* hnvc said to mc in person and in their lettors. that the Painkiller was by far the be3t medicine used in heathen lands, and they use it for themselves and families and administer it to others around them. Thus much lam inolined to say, as an act of justice' to yourselves, and as a benefit to others. You are at liberty to use this testimonial.if of any Service.
