Both are revolutionary, visionary, discontented and belligerent. Anarchy is preferable to them in place of good government. In imitation of the attempted assasination of President Geffrard and the overthrow of his government, they seize onr arsenals, incite the slaves of the South to rebellion and, proclaim the Provisional Government. Such a party never possess great and patriotic men. Their leaders are the incarnation of bigotry, fanaticism and ignorance. Who the Republican nominee will be is of but little moment to the National Conservative party of the Confederacy. The reins ot this government have been held by thatgrand old party for the last half century,

fi®*Next week we shall publish the address of Hon. Daniel W. Voorhees in behalf of John E. Cook. It is one of the most, powerful and truly eloquent speeches ever delivered before a Virginia jury. We commenend it to a carcfil perusal of our some in the tamaracks and some in the readers as a forensic effort of unusual bril- alders. At a shot fired iu the bushes the

birds rose in a mass and settled on the trees and when fired upon there they flew to the bushes. This changing continued all night. At a single shot, the flock always rose and flew a short distance to settle or be fired upon again. This scene lasted all night.

The usual mode of hunting the pigeons, is for two men to go together—one with a gun, and the other with a bag and lantern and matches. As soon as the shot is fired, the bag man strikes a light, and "bags" the birds and this must be done speedily, or the wounded ones will hide and be lost. Six dozen is quite a heavy loud for any man. We "gin eout" under five dozen, very soon. We were told to fire with one barrel at the bushes, and with the other at the "bile up." The term boil up, is very natural one for at every shot, the flock will rise straight upwards, and after cir-•-.-ling a few moments, make a swooping cour-ic-, and then alight perhaps a few vnvds of where they rose.
