How

TO DEVEI

or

MAN PHYSICALLY.—

The editor of the New York Clipper has been visiting Morrissey, and in his paper of this week gives the following account of the training process under which it is hoped to bring the muscles of the prize fighter to the most perfect dcvclopement. Tho free love short girls might find in this system a remedy for the physical defects of their "affinities," if not a cure for their evil morals.

As the system of training wbich he is now pursuing differs considerably from that which we have previously dcscribcd, we give a brief abstract of it. He rises at 5£ o'clock, in the morning, and undergoes a cold bath, having a couple of pails of spring water poured over him, and well sponged with it. He is then nibbed dry with coarse towels, and after dressing starts'of!' on a three mile walk, running an .additional half mile. Every other morning before thus setting off", lie drinks a large glass of the finest sherry, with an -••"egg beaten up in it. On his return from

Almt appetite creating excursion, lie us^ tho skipping rope for twenty minutes, to cxcrcise and strengthen the muscles of ,thc leg, and finishes with tho dumb bells far a quarter of an hour. Eight o'clock ita« iby this time arrived, and ho goes to breakfast with an appetite by

110

means

lesseuad by his morning's exercise. At tine meal lie partakes of a cup of tea and a broiled mutton chop. After breakfast lie walks 4j miles out to a house, where he takes a glass of Murphy's fine old ale, and a crust of home baked bread.

Itelurning, he runs a mile nt the top of liis 5pccd, and

011

reaching his hotel is well

rubbed down by his trainers, lie then, after changing his dress, commences with the weight machine, ami finishes the morning's work with "fighting the bag." Dinner hour, one o'clock, has now arrived, and here ft largo cut of sirloin or beef, or of mutton, awaits him, varied occasionally with a broiled chicken, lie is allowed but little water, and after dinner he takes half 11 tumbler of sherry, with a piece of dry toast. ITe then washes his face and hands in a liquid prepared by his trainer, the object of which is to harden the flesh on these parts, lie now starts off on the afternoon's walk of eight or nine miles, returns, uses the bag for twenty minutes, nnd is well rubbed down. He diversifies this routine by sparring with Shepherd, Lawrence or Burns, and using the weight machine. Tea at six o'clock comprisin a light broiled egg and mutton chop, or broiled chicken, ami a single cup of tea.— Afterwards he takes a rest for half an hour, and then amuses himself with rowing on tho river for an hour or so. After again washing his hands and face in the liquid before mentioned, lie imbibes half a glass of sherry wine, aijd cats a crust of stale bread, before retiring for the evening, which he docs at eight o'clock, again to rise in the morning and pursue the same course of exercise or dietetics.

sends money to pipclayers and election swindlers "in distress," is himself considerably distressed, and as nmcli in need of aid nnd comfort as his dear "friend" SeliilIcr, whose necessities lie was so prompt to relieve—Schiller's only claim to Colfax's "friendship" resulting from the fact that lie was the main agent in importing Black Republican voters into Fountain county to defeat the Democratic candidates. The people of the Ninth District give evident signs of being disgusted with this small potato demagogue, and if they do not embrace the opportunity which will he presented to them on the second Tuesday in October of throwing him off, they will come so near it as to make "Little Greeley" trcmhle in his boots. The evidences are that he will be beaten, and the place which lie so unworthily holds in the House be filled by Col. John C. AValker, a true Democrat and gentleman, who is as far above

Schiller" Colfax in every attribute of statesmanship aud manly bearing as the oak of the forest is above the crab tree. We have strong hopes that in the next fongrcBS Indiana is not destined to be dis-gr-i-ad with snch Representatives as Col fax, Jim Wilson, and John U. Pcttit—N A. Ledger. 1 HI

FLEE, and the virus long* into the blood. poison on the internal visccra and excreting organs of the body. The lirer becomes torpid ana fails to secrete not only this virus, bat also the bQe from the blood. Both the virus and the bQe accumulate in the circulation, and produce violent constitutional disorder. The spleen, the kidneys, and the stomach sympathize with the lirer, and become disordered also. Finally, the instinct of our organism, as if in an attempt to expel the noxious infusion, concentrates the whole blood of the body in the internal excretories to forcc thein to cast it oat. The blood leaves the surface, and rushes to the central organs with congestive violence. This is the CNILL. But in this effort it fails. Then the FEVER follows, in which tlie blood leaves the central organs and rushes to the surface, as if in another effort to expel the irritating poison through that other great excretory—the skin. In this also it fails, and the system abandons the attempt exhausted, and waits for the recovery of strength to repeat the hopeless effort another day. These are the fits or paroxysms of FEVER AKD AGUE. Such constitutional disorder will of course undermine the health if it is not removed. "We have labored to find, and have found, an antidote,

There it acts as an irritating

Ayer's Ague Cure,

which neutralizes this malarious poison in the blood, and stimulates the liver to expel it from the body. As it should, so it does cure this

afflicting

disorder with perfect certainty. And it does more, or rather does what is of more service to those subject to this infection. If taken in season it expels it from the system as it is absorbed, and thus keeps those who use it free from its attacks keeps the

rstem in health although exposed to the disease, it not only cures, but protects from, the great variety of affections which are induced by this malignant influence, such as Remittent Fever, Chill Fever, Dumb, or Masked Ague, Periodical Headache, or Bilious Headache, Bilious Fevers, Neuralgia, Rheumatism, Gout, Blindness, Toothache, Earache, Catarrh, Asthma, Palpitations, Painful Affections of'the Spleen, Hysterics, Colic, Paralysis, and Painful Affections of the Stomach and Bowels, all of which, when arising from this cause, will be found to assume more or less the intermittent type. This AOUB CURE removes the cause of these derangements, and cures the disease.

This it accomplishes by stimulating the ex ere tones to expel the virus from the

system and

these organs by degrees become habited to do this their office of their own accord. Hence arises what we term acclimatation. Time

may accomplish the

same end, but often life is not long enough, or is sacrificed in the attempt, while this AGUE CURE does it at once, and with safety. WE have grdat reason to believe this is a surer as well

as

safer

remedy for the whole CLASS of diseases which are causca by the miasmatic infection, than any other which has been discovered and it has still another important advantage to the public, which is, that it is cheap
