miiarr AND YALENTIA BAY. Trinity, on thifl side of the Atlantic, and Valentia, on the other, will hold the two ends of the cable which is to annex the Old World to the New. The Washington Union says of the two points:

i:

Trinity Bay, Newfoundland, and Valentia Bay, on the western coast of Ireland, were selected as the sites for the telegraph stations because of the peculiar adaptability of the beach, for landing the cable.— From past experience the company were convinced that these points presented superior advantages in conscquencc of the candy and muddy nature of the bottom of the ocean, which secured the safety of the cable, while rocks or stones could not fail to be fatal to it. Another reason, we are informed, had some weight. It has been -determined hereafter to lay a cable from Placentia Bay to the best point cither in Nova Scotia or nejy Portland, Maine, and the short distance between the two points will greatly facilitate the design. At pres -ent the connections will be formed with the land running from St. Johns, the capital city, to Capo Ray, the most extreme Bouth-wcstern point on the island, where the cable, which spans the gulf, was laid in the month of July, 1856.

The telegraph bouse will be crected at the hedd of Bull's Bay. It will be a spacious frame building, containing, in addition to the officc or operators' department, a sitting-room, a kitchen, eight bed-rooms, and all the other ct ccteras of a wcll-ap-pointed household. A library will be provided by the company for the use of the operators, and tbey will have everything that they could desire for the purpose of spending their time in an agreeable manner. The force of operators will number •seven, and these must have, among other •qualifications, a pcrfect knowledge of English, French, German, and Italian, so that •hey maybe enabled to receive and transmit messages in all those languages. In :addition to the operators, there will be five :mcchanics to repair the telegraph instruouaittB. and to perform any other work that may be required of them in their particular trade.

The Other end of the line, Valentia Bay, •does not present quite so many advantages, although it is best, in many points of view, that could have been selected. The buy docs not afford a safe place for anchorage -during storais, and the population frequently suffer from famine. The small landcove at the head of the bay has been selected as the place for the landing of the 'cable, and the telegraph-buuao has been built about four hundred yards from tbe beach. The junction with the cable will be formed by a land line running to Cork, from Cork to Dublin, thcncc across the •channel to England, and by other connec.tions with the great net-worl: of telegraphs, "which extends over llio whole continent of

Europe, and which lias already embraced within it portions of Asia and Africa.

D\VKI,I.INC HOUSKS.—-

In point of fact, the corpse is buried in China when it is laid in its coffin. The euflin is mnde of very thick, heavy timber, nnd the joints are all carefully dosed by pasting layers of paper over them, so as to make them perfectly air tight. For greater riccurity a little lime is generally put in 'ivitli the corpse. Jn this way it is possible "to keep coffined corpse in the house for years without any unpleasant conscqucnecs. The practice, indeed, is not uncommon. Some have not the means at. hand for burying in such a style as they would wish. They must wait for better days.—

Some do not find a place to suit them.— Thus it sometimes happens, that on entering a Chinese gentleman's house, a colfin is one of the most prominent objects seen among the articles of furniture.

Dr. Easterly's

IODINE AND SARSAPARILLA.

Will core all diseases arising from an iropnre state of the BLOOD,or a depraved condition of the fluids of the system, viz: Canccrs, Swelling of the Glands, Rheumatism, White Swelling, Chronic Sore Eyes, Piles, Boils, Erysipelas, Gontre, Pains in the Bones and Joints, Ulcers in tho Month and Throat, and all Chronic Constitutional Diseases. This medicine searches out tho very roots of the disease by purifying the blood, and changing the secretions in the system, thus removing the cause, which renders the CUKE CERTAIN and PERMANENT.

EASTERLY'S IODINE AND SAESAPABILI.A will cure the WORST MERCURIAL DISEASE, and drive out and destroy every particlo of MERCURY which is in the SYSTEM and cure its bad effects.

It will cure SECONDARY SYPHILIS or VENEEEAL DISEASE and will drive the SYPILITIC VIRUS and all HEREDITARY TAINTS and POISONOUS MATTER out of the system through the PORES OF THE SKIN, and restore the Patient to a pcrfect state of HEALTH and PURITY. It is a positive cure for LIVER COMPLAINT and DYSREPSIA, if used a proper length of time.

I

challenge the world to produce its equal

in these complaints. The afflicted will bear in mind that DR. EASTERLY'S IODINE AND SARSAPARILLA will cure all Nervous diseases, Female Complaints, Dropsy, Gravel, Diseases of the Kidneys, Bladder and Urinary organs, in a few days.

It will remove Pimples and Blotches from the FACE, and make the Skin Clear, White and Beautiful as Alabaster. It docs this by purifying the BLOOD, and by its prompt action on .the Liver Kidneys, and Secretary Organs, producing vigorous health.

Persons who have long been afflicted with Scrofula, Old Sores, Tetter, Eiugworms, Scald Head Clo'ches, Eruption of the Skin and all Cutaneous diseases arc advised to procure Gridlcy's Salt Iiheuin and Titter Ointment to apply on tho Sores or diseased parts, when using Dr. Easterly's Iodine and Sarsaparilla. The Iodine and Sarsaparilla purifies tho Blood, and cause the sores to discharge their PUTRID MATTER, and the OINTMENT HEALS THEM. When both are used (which I al ways recommend) a PERMANENT and RADICAL CURE is always eirccted. Tlicy arc the best and most POWERFUL CURATIVES known to man. A fair tria is all I ask—I do not fear the result. rrico of the Iodine and Sarsaparilla $1 per Bottle, or Bottles for $5. Gridley's Salt Rheum Ointment 75 cents per Bottle. Both are prepared by DR.
