AliuluKEXOVeD FBOMA WOMAN'S a yhe, Loguisport Pharos stales that Dr. A- Myera, of that city, who has acquired «oi#2 oelebrity as the inventor^of a- trap for the removal of tape worms, has recently performed a cure that is worthy of more tJuui ordinary mention. Mrs. E. Ryan, of Port Wayne, about 22 years of age, had Wen severely afflicted for four years with sensation in the stomach as though there was some reptile moving in it. Daring thai time she was treated for various diseases by numerous physicians of skill, and by several for tape worm. Hearing of Dr, Myers's new process for tho removal of parasite from the human stomach, Mrs. R. went to Logansport and placed herself under his charge. Within two weeks Dr. M. removed from her stomach'a snake about 3£ feet long, andl-£ inchcs in diameter, and relieved her of all her suffering, instead of aggravating it as had been the result of previous treatment she had received.

The latter part of her illness she was unable to attend to the domestic affairs of her family or even to take care of herself. It required two hours to prepare for retiring at night and after being assisted into bed, an equal length of time transpired before b1i6 5ould lie down—and often she was deprived of sleep for nights together. Frequently she would walk the floor until exhausted, because unable to lay down without the most excruciating pain. Mrs. Ryan's own words are, that "her sufferings were such that she often prayed for death to relieve them." Mrs. It. supposed she swallowed the snake, which was apparently of the water species, while drinlung from spring in the evening at her former residence west of Fort Wayne. She left the cafe of Dr. for home feeling as though phc was saved from worse than death.

Atlantic Cable.—On Saturday the United States steamship, the Niagara, dropped down the river to tho moorings at Fast (Jrcoinvich, and to-day (Monday) Her Majesty's ship Agamemnon, 91 guns, will come round from Portsmouth and take up her moorings there, to ship the submarine telegraph to be laid down in the Atlantic ocean to coimcct.llic continents of America and Europe. The length of cable to be put on board each vessel cxcceds 1,800 miles it will take upwards of six weeks to deposit the cable in the ships' holds. According to present arrangements, Her Majesty's ship Agamemnon and the United States frigate Niagara will leave the Thames about the first week in July, in company with hor Majesty's ship Cyclops and will proceed to the latitude midway between the \Ve:t coast of Ireland and Newfoundland. Here tho ends of the cable on board £nch sliip will be joined the Agamemnon will then return towards thu coast of Ireland, and the Niagara will hold on her coursc to the shores of Newfoundland, both hbips playing out the submarine cable as tlicy increase the distance between tlieni, and maintaining constant telegraphic communication with each oLlier to prove that the cable remains intact and within six days after the ships separate, should 110 accident occur, telegraphic communication will be open between the two continents. —London Neivs, May IS.

Kong.—There

Empire. Smugglers moor their boats there under the protection of the British flag.— Pirates seek that safe shelter to refit with Hritish guns and buy British powder.— Criminals escape from the Chinese stocks, paddle over there to safe refuge 011 British .soil. Roving John Chinamen go there to take passage to San Francisco, or to London, in British ships. Upwards of forty thousand of uot tho most reputable class of Uhinesos ubjccts, there snap their lingers at the "Son of Heaven," right under the noses of his Mandarians, but just out of the reueh of their bamboos. This little isjjind of Hong Kong plays an important part in the Chinese troubles. It is the uot ree of many of those prejudices which find vent through other pretexts and in other ways, making peace always hard to preserve, and war always easy to precipitate between the two nations.

itoitRlJlLE OCCUKIIKNOE.—A yOUllg Lady HI unbred—Suicide of the Murderer. —Between 12 and I o'clock to-day as melancholy'a transaction occurred as was ever our painful task to witness or record. A .man named G. II. Yates called at the residence of Mr. Anderson, where a young woman-—a sister of Mrs. Anderson—was living, and, after interrogating her as to whether she would marry him, received an answer that "at present it was impossible—she could not," on which I10 drew a revolver and fired at her, the ball entering her right side and killing her instantly.— He then drew a small single-barreled pistol and discharged its contents at his own head. The ball entered a little above the right oye, and lodged within the carntum. He is not yet dead, although specchless—the brain oozing from the orifice in the skull he will no doubt soon expire.—Albany (N. y.) Atlas, June 1-
