The Republican Party SuedBt a Colored Gentleman—A Racy Complaint.—
.A suit has been commenced in the Supreme Court, New York, against Gov. King, Dana ofjthe .Tribune, Bigelowof tlic Post, Curtis the Lcturer, and a few dozen other prominpifS Republicsii statesmen, by Tanis J. Campbell, colored individual, who claims over $2,500 as his due for the supper given st/the great-Republican ball in N6w York in December last. Campbell's complaint is a racy document. He sets forth that tho sajrf^JaKipbflK relyingupon the high and imposing social' and political standing of the defendpnts, embracing as .they do some of the "primics, governors, judges, trcasurftrfl, counsellors,- sheriffs and nobles" of the land, nnd the said Campbell, knowing full well that thc:ahovo nained jiefendaii.ts, at thc'time of tire said making of the said Contract with the said Campbell, were prominent iipembers of the political party commonly known as the Republican party which eaid'party Eolding among other principles not well understood by said Campbell, one off •excessiyo regard for the brotherhood of 'Africa, and a high resolve to elevate the «#id sdns Of Africa, in a political point of view, to an equality with" said defendants themselves,'entered into jvtontract with the apmlgkfbqdjtyitpf to furnish^ anjl did on jthe J8?W day of j)cccmbcr, so furnish and si

Nature's Law'against Slavery in Kansas.—A
gentleman from Virginia, who
ha.0ust returned fvom a visit to Kansas, to determine for himself the practicability of iutrdducing slaves into Kansas, has come baok with the fullest conviction that it is mititfoly if\rpra«ticrible -and such is the con^tilMfAllt.')ilRil)ijScne%icni'froih .slate .States in the Territory. Itfc" states to the editor of the Cincinnati Enquirer, that the country was not adapted tov slave lib'of, as there was ndt fuel enough in Kansas to keep thie slaves from freering and-—in his own language—'if there were five hundred negroes introduced into the Territory it would take'at least two hundred and fifty of them to procure wood to keep the others warm. This is tho most sensible and practicable idea we have yet beard on the subject. .Tho late Secretary of the Torritory, Woodson, who has been the most fanatical agent of the pro-slavery party, and tfho has been traversing all the Southern States for aid in arms, men, and money to subdue Kansas, says, to spend further time in the attempt, to make. Kansas a slave Stati is useless he gives it up, and tells his friends that their efforts in behalf of Atchison will be thrown away. If the freo State men in tho" Territory had resolutely insisted upon their rights in the rccent registration of voters and would go to the polls on the day of the election, their opponents would have yielded at once.
'Flowers.—Cultivate
flowers. Their
sweet influences will in turn beautify your own nature. Nothing can be more pleasant than the'Jight labors attending their growth. It costs little to have a neat flower garden, and to surround your dwelling .with, those simple beauties which delight the eye far more than oxpensivo objects. If you will let the stnisHne and the, dew adorn your yard, they will do. paore for you than any artist. Nature delights in beauty. She loves to:,brighten tho.landscape and make it agreeable to the eye. She hangs the ivy urottnd the-ruin, and oyer the stump of" a withered dctijfe.d tree twines the graceful, vine: A thousand arts she practices to animate the senses and please the' mi6d.— Follow hefeunple«- and, do for .yourself what she is aways laboring to do for you. Machine was introduced and used for the first time during tlic harvest of 1850. when neftTly two hundred and fifty of tliem were sold, and, thong]] new, it has already established for itself a reputation which has never been reached by any other Combined Reaper.and'Mower, and it now occupies a position far in advance of all its competitors.
We have made some valuable improvements, suggested by careful observation and experimedt during the last harvest. These will bo added to all our Keopers and Mowers now building lor the harvest of 1S57.
ADJUSTABILITY .—This machine can be changed from a Reaper to a Mower infivejninutes, and when at work can be altered to any desired height in one half minute.
The following premiumsliaVc..been awarded to this machine during and since the harvest of 1858: First Premium as a Mower, over Manny's Machine, on trial, before the Committeeoi tho Eminence AssoeiatiM£ Jt'irst Premium as a Reaper, and as a Combined Reaper and Mower over Manny's Machine, on trifllrTefore the Committee of the South-Western Agricultural and Mechanical Association. Louisville, Kyj'Tlrjt Premium as a Reaper over the New York Hand Raking Reaper, the New York Self-Ra-king RcaBpr, and Manny's Machine, at the Kontucky State Fair, held at Paris, Oct. 1856 also an extra rremffim~as a combined Rcajicr and Mower, over Manny's Machine, at the same Fair.
This .Mrf6))ine is got up at a greater expense?, is made of better materials, (being chiefly of wrought iron),-.»Itli a better finish, and is more durable than any other Harvester, while, at the same time, the price is as low as that asked for the most CTdinary Combided Machines.
One of these machines can be seen set up. and in complete working order at tt,--CHRISTMAN & GREGG'S,
