Resolutions were introduced and passed
unanimously:
Resolved,
That the Democratic party-
have no new principles to present to the people, but stand as they ever have done, upotj the grounds of the Constitution of the United States, the integrity of the Union, and a general National sentiment which acknowledges the civil and religious rights of every citizen of the republic.
Resoi.ved,
That we still find many good
nnd substantial reasons to condemn and-re-pudiate all secret political societies, and pledge ourselves to oppose their political operations ro long as they continue to be
characterized by acts of lawless disorder, tyranny, bloodshed, and the destruction of human life and property.
Resolved,
That we extend the right hand
of fellowship to all of our fellow cilizons regardless of former distinctions, who avow a National sentiment and who are opposed to political Abolitionism, and to the dominion of secret oath hound political bodies.
Rr.aOi.VKn, That we fully endorse the proceedings of the contention of the eighth of January last, both in its nominations and resolutions and we here pledge our undivided and energetic support to the nominees of that convention, having abiding confidence in the ability, fidelity and capaeifv ,to perform the duties of the ofliccs to which they aspire with honor to themselves and the* great democratic party to which they belong.
That we here pledge our un
