jyThc Washington Sentinel, sptaking of the election of Mr. Briyht, says: "The large mnjori'.y by which this, the highest honor within its gift, was conferred by the Senate of the United States upon this distinguished Senator from Indiana, is no ordinary cmnpliment. Almost theyoungest in years, he is the oldest in Senatorial service except the vene:ab!e Senator from Michigan. During this service, he has had the rare good fortune to win golden opinions from every quarter, and to command aud preserve, through the most trying scenes, the personal esteem-and regard of all his colleagues in the Senate. With amiable toleration of the opinions of others, he has ssbt en ever lirm and consistent in the expression of his own. He acknowledges no chart 'for his guidance hut the chart of principle and this. »t all hazards and under every pressure, hf» has never departed from. His election will be hailed with satisfaction everywhere, and particularly will bring mueh joy ctto the constitutional Democracy of the /Country. For them, indeed it is a proud iv ic tor v. The victory was by ball and wo, therefore, have no means of knowing ithe Democratic party, that contributed to this graifying result, but we have a right to linfer the support of many of the Whigs, and 10 them therefore, most cordially tensidcr our heartfelt thanks and commendation.'
/ar The National Era, speaking of the Know Nothings, says: "We boast of our religions liberty, of the great Protestant idea, the right of private judgment, of the triumph of the principle of toleration we speak of the persecution of Protestants by the Catholics under the bloody Mary, of the persecution of disecnters by the Established Church of England, of the persecution of the Quakers by the Puritans, as chapters in human history that can never be reproduced. CHERRY PECTORAL,
For the rapid Cure of

CONSUMPTION.
We invite the attention of the Public to tho Certificate appended below, and bespeak for them that .•andid consideration which their honest frankness los-.-rves.
Men in such stations as many who voluntarily bear witness to the eflieacy and value of Cherry Pectoral, do not wanton trifle with, or distort facts, uorovarstate their convictions. Judge then, whether this is not the medicine to trust when you must havo Tclief for the throat or lungs judge too, whether every family ought not to have it by them as a safeguard against the everywhere prevailing enemy, which steals with fatal frequency upon almost every fiock and carries off tho lamb from many a home? Jackson, C. If., Jackson City, 0., 20th Nov., 1S52.
DK. J. C. AYER. Sir—The Cusnut PECTORAL is much inquired after. Several of or.r best Physicians nave used it, three of them in their own case and always with the happiest cffects. The numerous patent medicines always before them, lead to incredulity in regard to every new remedy and it is only after undoubted evidence of value in any artielc, that anything like a general confidence can be excited.
The unrivalled cxcelence of this combination of agents.un the CHKKKY PECTORAL) proved beyond civil by repeated trial under their own observation, has compelled medical men to proclaim abroad its usefulness. It is beyond all doubt the best general remedy wo have for the Pulmonary Affections of this climate, at the same time sedative and expectorant—a rare combination of properties.
In the hope that it will prove its own reward, I subscribe myself. Respectfully your obt. servt. JAS. H- C*. MILLER, M. 1).
