OTTAWA, Sept. 13.
Senator Douglas arrived in town last evening to fulfil his appointment here to-day. The Board of Supervisors being in session this morning, paid their respects to Douglas in a body, to whom he made a few appropriate remarks.
The Shields Guards, Capt. Fisher, turned out in uniform, and when Douglas appeared upon the stand, at 2 o'clock, fired one gun. He addressed the largest assemblage ever congregated in Lasalle county, in the park south of the Court House, in a spccch of two hours and forty minutes.
He vindicated his course upon the Nebraska Kansas Bill, and showed that the democratic party can have no fellowship "with the Know Nothings, lie was listened to with the most profound respect during the whole speech, by the immense crowd, and was frequently applauded. At the conclusion three hearty
cheers
were given
for Douglas, and three for Shield's Guards. The crowd then dispersed with the utmost good feeling. A large concourse of ladies graced the meeting with their presence.

Their purchases have been made with special regard to the wants of the trade, as to styles, qualities, and prices—and we can assure our friends that we can sell a large portion of our stock at less prices than we have been able to heretofore. Our motto is to be undersold by none, and we will strictly adhere to it.
Our stock embraces a much greater variety than we have heretofore kept, and we feel fully able to sutisfv the demands ot our friends. We are firmly of the opinion that the trade of Indiana would not only promote their interest and ours, but the interest of the community by patronizing us in preference to going to other cities where there is an effort making to break down our currency.
