DEMOCRATIC COUNTY
CONVENTION!!!
The DEMOCRACY of Mon tgemcry County are recommended to meet at Crawfordsville on the
1 ril day cf August next to nominate a County Ticket lor the ensuing October election, and the se\eval Townships are requested to hold meetings
in the interval and appoint delegates to the Countv
Convention. Il is to be hoped that there will bo a full turn out of all who are friendly to the success of the great
principles of our party, and who believe that good government and political liberty consists in re
straining natural rights no further than tho abso
lute wants of socioty demand and that moral evils are better corrected by moral teaching than by tyranical legal enactment, such as search, seizure, confiscation and destruction of private property. Come one come all. and unite harmoniously in support of republican laws and republican institutions.
By order of the

the enemies of republicanism and liberty are endeavoring to force upon the people of I the State of Indiana. He considered the S3y\Vc arc authorized to announce SAMIEL W.
passage of the Nebraska bill as right and tin? Attorney in thisjudicial District, subject to the derision of the Democratic Convention of the lrtth proper, giving as it does, the right to the people to make their own laws. Ilis frank,
MCDON
ALD'S speech, the following resolutions were
unanimously adopted.
Resolved,
That the first article in the
democratic creed teaches us that the people are competent to govern themselves.— From the days of Alexander Hamilton to the present time, the part\' opposed to us have always taught the incapacity of man for self-government. Here is the very starting point, of the difference between the two great parties which divide our country and all other differences are subordinate to this and may be resolved into it.
That virtue, morality, religion,
truth, justice and every attribute of national glory and greatness have grown and nourished under the fostering care of Democracy- The sacred rights of citizenship in the pursuit, and posession of life, property, liberty, and happiness, are safe under its shield, and protection, and no passing impulse, or excitement, should induce us to weaken its power, to do good, or to operate upon our passions, in such a manner as to result in wrong, while undivided, we continue to rally around our stars and stripes, and folded under the wings of the American Eagle, those blessings, and liberties were the boon of our revolutionary fathers, will be violated.
DAN. MACE,
Resolved,
the janus-
faced traitor, is politically dead, condemned, and buried so deep in his political grave, that the loudest reverbations of Gabriel's trumpet can never reach his unhallowed car until Nebraska shall be clothed with all the majestic powers of a State, says Daniel, "thy sins which were many are all forgiven -thee."
That we have full faith and
confidence in the wisdom and patriotism of the nominees of the democratic state convention, and fully endorse the proceedings of that honorable body.
