Xen Orleans papers lo the II ill have been received. Deaths fur the week ending 10th inst., olG—yellow fever -121 total deaths from the commencement of the epidemic 10,100, of which 7,700 *vere of ve!lo»v- fever, and 2,400 ol other diseases.
The Picayune warns strangers against approaching the cily, as lire disease only requires material lo cause it to break forth with full violence. The board of health ha? published an order requiring pas«enpers to be landed at Quarantine and Port Philip.
The highest mortality al Mobile, on the Oil) were 4o deaths.

Interments j-esterlay I—fever :}2.— Frightful accounts have been received of its ravages along the lake and river coasts.— It is also railing on plantations and in small ii Yill.'iges..

••The steamer Arctic, with advices from Liverpool lo the 7th mst, arrived last night, Trade in India and China was generally .-•••.•• ., O stagnant. mg tr tiie fine weat her, and the e(Torts making in Prance lo put down prices oft brcadstuds, causing a decline there, and resales at Liverpool of parcels bought, on French account, prices at Liverpool, were) irregular, and wheat had declined 41, and flour Is since the sailing of the Niagara.
Corn was in moderate demand, and but little variation in puces. Beef and pork were very quieL In tallow, bacon sides, and shoulders, there was less doing, but prices were not lower.— JMellenry quotes lard Is lower, and dull.
Consols closed at 07 £. At Havre, the Cotton market was quiet. Hales of (Jrcnessee Hour were making at 41 frs.
The accounts from the harvest England were more favorable. The hrench Government had fixed a low price on bread, and was using everv means to keep down prices, which had caused a decline in all the French grain markets.
NEBRASKA.
It appears that President Pierce has at length determined lo effect treaties with the Indians occupying the Nebraska territory, securing their assent to its settlement bv citizens of the I. nited Slates, pursu:-int to •section in the hist Indian appropriation bill giving him discretionary power so to do.— Fortius purpose Col. Main-penny, ComnnsKioner of Indian A flairs, lias left Washing-1 ton with the intention oi going over the' country, and making the preparatory arrangemenls for a treaiy. Tins will te a measure of great importance in Us results, opening the way to a legal occupation ol the Pacific railroad route by settlers, and giving countenance to the squatters who have} already rushed into the country without! permission. Its very natural consequence will be to necessitate ihe gpssage of a bill by the next Congress establishing the Ter-! ri to rial Government of Nebraska. There aretwenly-four Indian tribes in the territory, souie ot ihem (juite civilized, and engaged in iarming and with all of ilieni there are1 treaties guarrantyiag to each the undis-! turbed possession ol their lands some also providing that they shall never be subject lo Territorial or Stale jurisdiction, authority or laws. Some ol these tribes are unportaut in numbers and strength, but many I others are feeble and fast dwindling awav. The Delawares are there, warlike and daring, but their frequent wars affect injuriously their numbers. [Aw7A Anwriron.
The editor of the Cleveland Plain-dealer reports the substance of a conversation held I with Mr. ilany penny, on his passage through that city lor the ar West, on the subject I of his mission. When asked by the editor' what he intended to do with the Indians ol Nebraska, the Commissionersaul: "lliat was a question which iroubled the President and Cabinet more than all the Cuban and Kosta difficulties put together. A line agricultural country here laid to waste, the whites were settling in it great numbers and rapidly improving it, who could legally claim no protection ol the Government. It the Indians surrendered their title their was no place for them to go. To pay them money was death to the race, and lands we have none to exchange. "We inferred the policy would bt. to explore, sound the Indians as to tht$- title, necessities and wants, and reportsto the President in time for some reeommt^jawms in his lirst regular message."

fully gorgeous was the sunset sky, the last noles of the summer birds fell upon the car us they retired to their resting places in the tureen forest, and everything whispered of love, as 1 stood with mv love in a beautiful garden, regaled by the odors of a thousand flowers. (Gently I drew my arm around her delicate waist, and was about to imprint a kiss upon her hps, when she looked at me saucily in the eyes, and with a smile upon her countenance, said "don't," and 1 "donted."
X5T One of the finest apostrophes to the
press ever written appeared recently in the
New
York Tribune. Listen:
The press: the King of laboring machines. The Press, when a halting, unartistic Congress failed to assist Morse, took him hand and gave to the country his invention, which now, by a miracle of bold thought and enterprise, writes out the heart's throb and the head's calculation with the zig-zag of the skies, and says to Plymouth stand thou side by side with New Orleaus—and it is obeyed!
&3T A young lady who married a rich man under pretence of being beautiful, is discovered to have painted, worn bustles, and otherwise disguised her natural lmpertections. Her husband means to sue her fyr obtaining money under false pretences.
