DEAR Srit—This mnil takes you the news of our difficulties here upon this frontier.— Vou will not be surprised at them it has been predicted for months and months.— We are here entirely abandoned. 1 do not suppose the Government gives us a thought they are so busy dealing out the loaves and fishes.
From the moment the California emigrants strike the river they commence losing cattle hundreds have been stolen from them ahdenrried to this side of the Tiver. At the head of these robbing parties is the Monies family of five brothers, protected by the authorities. On the 10th or 12th a man named Mager, the owner of four or five hundred head of cattle, came to this side to look for some forty head of cattle that he had lost. In his rounds he came across seven head in the lower pa ft of this town. Two Mexicans were herding them together with some eight or ten head ot Mexican cattle. lie took the cattle, and was taking the herders to the Alcalde, when they took to the bushes and could never he found afterwards. Mager then drove all the cattle to his camp on the American side of the river. The next dav he came back, and was ordered by the Prefecto to bring all the Mexican catile to this town, which he did the next da}*, and was arrested for stealing those and other cattle and thrown into prison.— ile has had no trial yet. 1 have been led to believe that he would be released indeed, the proposition was made by the Prefecto to release Mager by his paying 8100. That, looks like swindling. It was afterwards found out that Mager was a man of •.properly, and on the 17th it was finally decided that his cause should be sent to
Chihuahua, thinking by that means to get five hundred or a thousand dollars out of him. The best of it is that Mr. Mager is detained on I he evidence of the very men who stole his cattle, and in whose possession they were afterwards found.
After the 17th all hope was given up of having Mager released. The Californians made up a party to rescue him from the •prison. The thing was publicly talked

It will be perceived that- the New "York market, on Saturday, was in a very excited state for wheat and Hour, at further advanced rates, and when it is recollected, that this was the case before the arrival of the Atlantic, the effect her news will have on that market to-day may be well imagined. The political news possesses but little interest. The farce in the eastern question, was still going on, but the actors were still performing behind the scenes, so that the people can only conjecture how the play progresses.—

INDIANA IXST BONDS.—Gov. Wright, of Indiana, and Dr. E. Newland, Treasurer of the same State, are in this city, for the purpose of examining into the matter of "Indiana Lost Bonds," about which there was some uneasiness last Spring. The bonds, we. are informed, have been found in the vault of the banking house of "Winslow, Lanier it Co. They are supposed to be all on hand, and the Governor and Treasurer of State are examining and counting said bonds at the oflice of Col. May, agent of the State of Indiana.
We understand that Gov. Wright, in company with Dr. Newhtnd, will visit Washington City, before his return to the West, to arrange the three per cent, fund The Gov. will also visit New England, for the first time in his life, as he wants to see other churches, schools, kitchens,
economical arrangements,—their agricul ture, (a branch of industry in which he is quite at home.) their manufactories, and (heir people. Gov. Wright is a self-made man, unostentatious in his manners, and free from sectional prejudices.
Our readers will remember that in the midst of the bitter excitement on the subject of shivery which preceded the Compromise arrangement, Gov. Wright, a Democrat of the first water, invited Gov. Crittenden, of Kentucky, a staunch Whig, and very likely slave-holder, to come over and see him. lie came,—and met with a most cordial and enthusiastic reception.— The most fraternal sentiments of mutual respect and attachment were interchanged, and the whole affair, public and private, went off in admirable style. It was a healing balm, administered at the right moment, and the effect was most happy, all oyer the Union.

The commercial advices in regard to brcadstuffs, are of the most important character—more so than any we have had for the past six years. The Liverpool market for flour and wheat, it seems, was in a state of wild excitement, and this, coupled with advices from France in regard to the import duties on breadstuff's, and from 'Sicily and Greece, leaves it no longer a matter of doubt that a large demand for flour and wheat will exist the coming season in Europe, to make up a deficiency, the existence of which may now be considered a settled fact. The advantages to be derived from this state of affairs, by the agricultural interests in this country, will
