Just at present everybody, including the State gas and oil inspector, are trying to make out that gas is failing and that it cannot possibly last more than four years. Hut there is one man who does uot think so and he recently said so through the press: "There is 110 means to definitely determine the average-life.of a gas well, but as the wells in tiie Indiana fields''are stronger than those in Pennsylvania ever were, it. :s safe policy to reckon that the. life of the former Will be equal to the latter, which was .-ten years. The Indiana field has 'an area of P»,4U0,0oo acres and where the cons imption is at its greatest there will not be required an average of more than one well and a half to the r.10" acres to supply the demand. At this rate of consumption it will require at least ."j years to exhaust the supply.".

There are new complications now involved which will undoubtedly result in the escape of the guilty party, who was probably not the young follow who purchased the ticket to Linden but another, chap against whom there is no evidence but suspicion.

Sheriff Davis returned from Terre Haute last night with "Plumps" Marlev, who is charged with burglary. "Plumps" neither atlirms nor denies guilt but preserves a wise silence. He states that he has traveled a rocky road since he left the Athens and his looks attest the truth of that statement most eloquently.
