Tin- otlicial board of the M. E. cluirch took the following action in the death of John 1'isliop:

*¥1 ,^-lZ

In the wisdom of Him who doeth all things well our friend and brother, John Kishop, was called to his "'long home" oil the Sth of Oct, lS'.U. We would not question the Father's act. nor complain, though it hangs over us a mantle of grief, aud draws from our hearts expressions of sorrow. We bow in humble submission to the Divine will. Our brother was an ollieial member of the Methodist Episcopal church of Crawfordsville, continuous since 1S 10. a time longer than that of any other member of the beard. He was a man whose life was an exemplification, to a marked degree, of the principles taught by the Master, whom he delighted to serve, .and in his loss we recognize that a faithful friend, a wise counsellor and a devout Christian lias gone from us. yet there remains the influence of au upright citizen and a consecrated Christian—a monument more inspiring and enduring than granite and marble.

As members of the Otlicial Hoard of the Methodist Episcopal church of Crawfordsville, Indiana, we hereby extend to his family our sincere sympathy and love in this, the hour of their great and lasting sorrow.

Alter examination of Dr. l!atenian Mort Mills was called and testified that old Mr. Young used,to loaf at his store in Ladoga. In the opinion of Mr. Mills, the old gentleman was slightly cracked and talked a great ileal about his trouble with the widow of his son Lafayette. She is a daughter of Drake lirookshire and Mr. Young did not like her. lie said lie did not like the lirookshire stock.

Wallace Foster was a rather unimportant witness. He lived next door to Mr. Young in Ladoga and rather thought that the old gentleman was a little peculiar.

Dr. Wilson was the best witness the plaintiffs had on up to Tuesday eveniug. He was so frank and fair that what he said made a deep impression. He aeklowledged that he was prejudiced in favor of the plaintiffs who he thought were treated unfairly but nothing he said showed a disposition to be anything but honest. He was the family physician of Young and knew him many years, lie thought that during Mr. Young's latter days that he was mentally unsound. He accompanied Mr. Young to Tennessee where he died of lung trouble. He believed that Mr. Young was capable of transacting business but was not rational on the subject of his family trouble. The decedent once told him that he intended to disinherit his granddaughters unless they changed their attitude toward him.

This morning the entire session was occupied in the examination und cross examination of Dr. Walker, of Indian apolis. who gave expert testimony. 1L was called to Ladoga during the illness ol' Mr. Young to consult with Dr. Wilson. lie believed that monomania might easily result from the sickness with which Young wasafllieted. Nothof a particularly definite character was developed beyond this, Dr. Walker having1 obtained his personal impressions of Young's insanity from others.

Everett I*. \Vlieel«*r Named for Governor by '•Anti-Snappers." NEW YORK, Oct. 10.—There is more trouble Ahead for Senator Hill. The "anti-snappers" have named a third state ticket, which tlie.y clr.im will re oeive the support of President Cleveland aud the entire administration, and it is expected it will be Indorsed by the independent democrats throughout the state. The ticket presente as the candidate of the anti-Hill democracy for governor Everett P. Wheeler, of New York oity, and indorses the candidacy of the regular democratic nominees for lieutenant governor and judge oi the court of appeals, Daniel L. Lockwood and Charles i\ llrown. After having decided upon Its candidates, Mr. Shepard's committee nominated Hon. Charles S. Fairchild, ex-secretary of the treasury, for chairman of the campaign committee.

The ticket was nominated shortlyafter 0 o'clook Tuesday evening by a committee composed of Charles 11. Patterson, Thomas G. Shearman, George R. Peabody, Michael E. O'Connor, R. 11. Bowker, Richard S. liansey, J. \V. Green, S. Perry Sturgis and Charles L. Rlcardl. The committee was appointed by Edward M. Sliepard, as a result of the meeting of Shepard delegates to the Saratoga convention.

As the Shepardites are said to have secured assurances that their nomineo for governor will, accept, all that remains to be done to make the ticket the regular choice of the third party is to secure the signatures of 8,000 persons as indorsers of the candidates aud to file these with the secretary of state on or before OotoberlO. On this showing the secretary of state will issue the order for the printing of the thirdparty ballots.
