Last nitrht Amos Lnse. of Waynetown, had a streak of »tough luck, lie is a grocer there airl yesterday had a smashing trade and had S20 in the till when enemy came on. He was a little leary of a few of his fellow townsmen, so he took the stulV home in his pantaloons' pocket and put the pantaloons under his pillow when he sought the refreshment of his virtuous couch. It is a chilly day, however, when a Wayuetown burglar can't rise superior to an emergency. While Amos slept the burglar came and liis coining was heralded by a cry like that which roused the ten virgins when the bridegroom came. The burglar said nothing but sawed wood. In less figurative language he readied under the pillow and hooked the pants of the sleeping beauty, lie transferred tlie S'M to his own pants and then to make his meanness climatic he threw the pants in the lop jar.

.lames' l.ahlwin, the man with a broken necU, arrived in the city last evening and tooU out peddler license expecting- to remain, here a few days. Baldwin's ease is a peculiar one. Several years ago in a railroad wreck at liirining'ham, Alabama, his neck was broken, although of course the spinal cord was not. To the surprise of all the man lived. His head is kept in place by a metallic frame and so he goes about. His neck is as limber as a dishrag but otherwise he is all right.

At the pleasant home of Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Hums, on west Wabash avenue, the marriage of their niece. Irene L. Davidson, to Charles 0. Mimes, of Ladoga, was solemnized last evening. Rev. Faulk, of the Ladoga Haptist church performed the ceremony in the presence of fifty relatives and ininicdidate friends.
Promptly at S o'clock. Miss :iara Harslibarger begun the Mendelssohns's march to which the party entered. Miss Anna Hums, the maid of honor, was accompanied by Mr. Ira Foster, of Ladoga, and took position before a bank of magniticent ferns and were followed by the contracting couple. A dainty collation was afterward served in the dining room which shared the beautiful deeorations of the entire home white and. green being everywhere prominent in ropes and masses of bloom. The fair bride was charmingly gowned in cream wool with moire and pearl accessories and carried a bouquet of jasmine. Miss lturns wore a gown of similar texture, and the groom looked handsome in the usual black. Miss Davidson was the only daughter of Sherman Davidson and wife, formerly of this county. who both died when she was an infant, and much of her life has been spent at Haldwin City, Kansas, where she was a student of Haker I'niversity, until two years ago. Since then she has resided with relatives in this county, where she met her present husband. Mr. Dimes a prosperous farmer and well worth of his bride. They will reside for the present with his venerable mother, near Ladoga. Many beautiful presents attest the esteem of their many friends. The guests from out of town were Misses Salome Harslibarger and Mary Lovett, of (.ireencastle: Mrs.
Mary Dimes and two daughters and D. M. Harshbarger and family, of Ladoga, and R. W. Harrison, of Lebanon.

Ed Holloway, haggard, long haired and unshaven, broken in mind and health, arrived from Terre Haute last night where for three months he had been confined unjustly on the terrible charge of train wrecking. The poor fellow is really in a pitable condition. He states he will remain here and will seek some employment in a few days. He was misrepresented in his alleged confessions and was bullied and coaxed into what he did say. He was unable to identify an^ of the real wreckers yesterday as they were men he had nc\er seen before. He states that if it had not been for the /yr/»f7\s.s and Hamil ami Mavis he would surely have been unjustly sentenced to death as his health had broken until he could not even make an intelligent statement.
Kd will return to Terre Haute and testify at the trial of the Fontanel wreckers. His lawyers are preparing to bring a suit for heavy damage^ against the Hig Four road and really have a tine case, so terribly was the poor fellow imposed upon by the detectives of the company.
