*... Insect Stings. A Vienna scientist has made a series of Interesting experiments with the virus of such insects as bees and wasps, and comes to the conclusion that the effectiveness of the irritating substance depends largely upon the mood of the insect. A drop of the fluid taken from the poison bag of a dead hornet, for instance, produces a slight itching, but nothing resembling the inflammation caused by a hornet sting with a much smaller quantity of the same virna. This theory is supported by the curious fact that under the influence of rage the saliva of all sorts of otherwise harmless animals can become virulent enough to produce alarming ind even fatal Hymptoms. Death V.v blood poisoning has more than once resulted from the bite of a wounded squirrel, a chipmnijlj or a caged rat.

Low Wallace to Deliver a Lecture, mi Mexico, Tuesday Evening, March 6, at Music Hall.
Gen. Lew Wallace will deliver a lecture at Music Hall on Tuesday evening. March 6. on "Mexico and the Mexicans," the entire proceeds to be applied toward replenishing the treasury of the charity organization. Uen. Wallace's fame as author, soldier, statesman and orator is co-extensive with the country, and here at his home where he is known so well and so highly respected he should be honored with an overflowing house. The cause alone should be sufficient to make it a great financial success. The charity organization has now less than S"0 in its treasury and the demands for the assistance of the worthy poor exceeds its ability to give the required relief. It is the duty of everyone, who has the ability, to buy one or more tickets. President Ramsey will place canvassers in the field at once. Give these canvassers a friendly greeting and a quarter at least.
March Will Be Howler.
Prof. Foster says that one of the most severe storm periods of recent years will prevail over the I'nited States and Canada from March 7 to April 13. In many parts of the country universally heavy rains or snows will fall and floods may be expected. Seven principal low barometers will cross the continent from west 1,0 east during the period. Tornadoes may be expected in those parts frequented by these destroyers. Temperature will go to great extremes and frost will damage early props far southward. Electric storms will precede and severe cold waves follow some oi these lows. Those crossing the continent March 7 to II, 12 to 10, IS to 24, 2" to to 2sj and April 4 to S should be earefullv atoned.
