A Sugg^gtion a« to lU'tliHtrletlni To the 1-Milor ol' The Juui mil. There is no just reason why our legislative body should be composed of six members. It has been that way since the organization of our city. Whj not advance with more members in our Council, as we have in population, territory ar.d improvements? Crawfordsvillc has arrived at a point where slic should have at least eight or ten members in his iminicipul government. This would lie money well siient, and should be done at this time, by the present Council, so that at the coining May election we could elect the additional members. Our city can lie divided into four wards by taking Wasliington street as the north and soutli line, and Wabash avenue as the east and west line. By this method we will have eicht Councilineu. Or. by running the lines east and west it would be more equal in territory, towit: Firs tward. all that part of the city north of Spring street: second ward, betu een Spring and Main streets third waid ljetweeii Main and Wabash avenue fourth ward, between Wabash avenue and Franklin street fifth word, all that part of the city south of l'ranklin street. Jtv this method we would have ten Councilmen. This suggestion is without any thought as what the political status of the council would lie. It would lie safe to say that two-thirds of the members-elect would lie Repulilicans.

To Fight the I'ee and Sjilary l.iuv. The committee from State ottiecrs who some time ag*o arranged to light the new fee and salary law have not given up their efforts to break it. and the committee appointed some time ago consisting of Sheriff lioice. of Hen ton. Recorder Hlaeker. of Clinton, and Treasurer Heard, of Huntington, were empowered to do anything in the line of pror.ecut.ing this litigation that it thought was in the interest of the county oflieers. It was decided yesterday by the court of Marion county to again test the constitutionality of the famous law. The principal ground of the suit this time will be that the act is„uneonstitutional be cause it is special inasmuch as it Gxes the salaries of the county ollieers by counties ahd does not, grade them by population as under the old law. Instead of making a horizontal cut. the law specifies each counly, and, accordingly comes under the head of "special legislation Judge Elliott, late of the Supreme Uench, will have charge of the suit and bri .'g it this \\*eekv:v- ,-.

Week4 Maybe.
uld Tom Courtney, ol' aynetown. has again put his already skinned proboscis to the matrimonial grind stone, lie was married yesterday at Danville, 111., to his twice divorced wife. KeJiecca Fruits Stivers of redolent memory. Within the past two years Tom has lieen married jto this woman three times and has secured two divorces from lier. Ilis marriage bill has footed up about PHI and his divorce bill to about f? 1,000. Tom has grown ^ray headed trying to solve the great matrimonial problem and malting otic woman and one clean shirt last through three marriages and two divorce suits, lie manages affairs so as to about equally divide his time between the hymeneal altar and the witness stand ig a divorce suit. 'l'oin has been ony of the wealthiest farmers in Wayne township but if he persists in monkeying with the female board of trade he won't have enough left in a year or so to buy funeral ice. He was a childless widower, as gay us a horned mutton, when he married the widder Stivers the first time. Very soon war clouds as ljig as the bill for rullen's Chinese wall arose on the connubial horizon and liegan to patter lown big drops in the Courtney camp of domestic felicity. Mrs. Courtney's half grown sons playfully impersonated clouds and, perhaps, did more to stir up a good stiff brce/o than anything else. The personal encounters between Tom and Kcbecca which were marked by the shedding of gore. hair, teeth and toe nails, also contributed to making the matrimonial cyclone a brilliant success. A divorce and a cross complaint, both tilled with sensational and sassy charges were filed and in the course of time the divorce was granted. In much less than three weeks-"Tom had made brilliant charge on the affections of his ex-wife and captured the works.
The old gray mare was hitched up and the cooing couple came rattling to town to be made one again. They were evidently fond of this exciting game of "odd and even" however, for along about raspberry time another divorce suit was tiled. The charges were as gay and gaudy as ever. Each charged the other with murderous assaults, of wearing the finger nail long, and of carrying files to sharpen teeth in advance of a battle. Mr Courtney came inarching into il court house under the banner of "No divorce without alimony." She got- it. Again the good people were separated but the lawyers were still busy counting their fees when old Tom begun to get gay again, lie made eyes at the lady on their way home from the trial and in less than a week liegau greasing his boots and wearing a collar. In less than ten days he was writing lier poetry and driving a gravel wagon two miles out of hi» "vav to pass Annie's residence.
In two months the cooing and lolly gagging was in full blast again and the roses blossomed on hymen's altar yesterday for the third Ume while Hymen himself went across the street to a neighboring Valoon and getting gloriously drunk offered his .mcient business interests for sale for a mere song. The marriage agreement was drawn up Wednesday at Waynetown liy the amiable and agreeable Win. Sinims of the Waynetown liar. Tom agreed in these articles to leave Annie-: one-third of all his property, in fee simple, when he died. He. also .agreed to milk the cow and slop the sow. Waynetown is all speculation as to the time of the filing of the next divorce suit. Bob Baker and Morris llerzog are fitting up a lottery stand in the back of Hevzog's store and will sell tickets numbered by days from tli-e first of next week up until the first of June. The man holding the ticket with the day of filing the suit upon it will draw the capital prize—a type, wrill-en copy of one of Capt. Billings" war stories with the truthful part in brackets.
