A Washington special says: ''There is a small cloud on the horizon of the Hcosier Democratic delegation this morning, which John E. Laiub. of Terre Haute, brought about. Will Johnston, of Crawfordsville,•chairman of the Montgomery county central committee, is condidate for assistant Attorney-General, lie and Congressman Brookshire disagreed over tho appointment of the Crawfordsville postmaster. Now Mr. Johnston wants Brooksliire's political scalp, Lamb would like to see the hirsute adornment lifted. So he championed Johnston for assistant Attorney-General and came to Washington to instruct Senator Voorhees to get iuto line for his Crawfordsville protege. Congressman Brooksliire's friends intimate that this is a move in Lamb's interest for Congress. Hut it raised a commotion in another quarter. Leroy Wade, of
Posey county, has supposed that he was a candidate for assistant AttorneyGeneral, and Congressman Taylor has been backing him. Mr. Taylor lias expected Senator Voorhees to accompany him to the Attorney-General's this morning in Wade's interest. But at the last moment the Senator "Hickcred." Subsequently it was learned that he was backing Lamb's candidate, Johnson, for the place Wade wants'.'

Will Denman, late of this county, was not without opposition in his race for the nomination for Auditor of l'ut nam county. Some of the most famous ild Democrats of the Democratic stronghold were out against him but Denman won by 300 plurality. The Tlnnncr-Timcn thus laments the success of a '.'new comer:''
A large number of candidates were brought out purposely to cover up the bitter fight necessary. It must indeed be galling to old time Democrats like G. M. Black, Farmer Carter, Jerome Coleman, Wm. Skelton and, not least if last, Peter F. Stoner, to be downed by a young man of but a few years' residence in the county. These men who have gone down in their clothes for all sorts of hundreds of dollars, particularly Stoner, at divers times when the call was made, men who pay arge taxes and who have been voting the ticket in old Putnam "all their lives'' are thus ruthlessly east aside at the behest of the ring and told to stand back for a newcomer.
The KHlemlnr Kurmiss.
We regret very much to say that an elaborate article portraying the beauties and delights of the Kalendar Kurmiss as given by the Senior class of the 'city liigl) schowl last Friday evening at the Y. M. C. A. hall in some inexplicable way got lost iu the shuffle Satur day and so failed to appear. The aft'air, however, was a most successful one from every point of view. The people enjoyed themselves thoroughly and the class made about SS0 cold cash with w.liieh to defray their commencement expenses. In the card of thanks printed Saturday the class uninten tioually omitted the name of Stanley Simpson whose kindness they much appreciate.
A Goose Nibble Soiree.
lluek Gill, a social light of Goose Nibble, gave a charming and select dance Saturday night. Ben Zachary the heathen dude, was present and during the progress of the soire attempted to end the brilliant career of that ideal bean. Bill Hoover, with sling shot. William artfully dodged however, and seizing the inconsiderate Benjamin by the throat jammed liis head through the plaster and was pro ceeding to finish the good work when the ladies interfered and beat the collin factory out of a sale.

It is always pleasant to learn what! others think of us provided they think well and the following from the Logansport Journal !n reference to the visit of the junketfng party is worthy of perusal:
The committee was met at the station by Mayor Bandel and Councilmen Campbell, Reynolds and Smith, and taken in carriages to the Bobbins hotel, presided over by Am Jones, formerly of the Murdock. An elegant supper had been provided and the •party sat down to it and did it justice. After supper there was a visit and cigars at the Lotus Club the business men's social club of the city, where the tasty and convenient arrangement of the rooms was noted between puffs of fragrant llavanas. Later in tho even ing the hospitality of the club was again enjoyed until the midnight hour.
During the evening the party was introduced to the genial sheriff at his palatial residence, and from there taken to the elegant club house and gymnasium of the Y. M. C. A.
of
The, "Bobolink" club, composed Misses Florence and Marguerite Dice Ethel Wasson, Eilie Lee. Lizzie llernly and 1011a Brewer, were highly entertained by Mrs. A. F. Ramsey on East Main street Saturday afternoon. Dur ing the afternoon elegant refresh l.ients were served.

The Sheriff presides over a novel arrangement known as "The Merry-go-Round." The cells are within a circular iron cage and revolvo on a central pivot. When the sheriff wants a prisoner he turns a lever and the colls evolve. When the proper coll is attho door he drops the lever and his man is before him. The prisoners all get a free ride when anyliudy is wanted, and this, no doubt, is a pleasant divorsion. The sheriff gave the machine a whirl for the edification of the crowd, and as the different cells came to tlic front Mayor Bead involuntary murmured, "Guilty, or not guilty."
The Y. M. C. A. rooms would be a credit to any city of metropolitan airs. The building and contents were made possibility by the liberality of a Crawfordsville. banker, who by a strange turn of the wheel of fortune is now almost in needy circumstances. The building contains numberless reading rooms, parlors, a large audience room, a splendidly equipped gymna sium under tlie charge of a professor of physical training and bath rooms. The building is a handsome one and the finishings and furnishings are in harmony with the imposing front.
The Crawfordsville plant is as near perfect as the resources of the age permit of in its constructions and workings. It is too small to permit of furnishing all who desire to use the incandescent light and it is thought that 2,000 "more lights could be placed. With the revenue derived from the total all expenses could, be paid and the city wduld get its light free. As it is the city uses t-18 street lights to Logausport's 09, burns them whenever it is dark whether the moon is behind time 01- not and pays annually about S3,700 over and above the receipts. That is, the 148 lights cost 53,700 which with the interest on the cost of the plant at 5 per cent, would make the 148 lights cost 87,000 per year less than tliey would cost under the Loganspcxrt contract: and by §7,000 per year Crawfordsville is ahead of us. Besides this incandescent rates there are just half what they are here, and the citizens are saved much in this.
The committee was royally entertained by the Mayor and councilmen of Crawfordsville. assisted by Mr. Fred Brown, the superintendent of the plant. Treasurer Nicholson, City Clerk Scott, and other citizens and bears tliem all in grateful remembrance.
Tlie .luu nud acknowledges the courtesy of the Crawfordsville Jouunai. and of other friends and regrets that tlie short time alloted to the visit prevented the renewing of many pleasant memories.
•Birthday Celebration.
Last Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sloan, a number of young people were royally entertained. The hostess had prepared to dispense tea to, her guests. The party was given in honor of the K)th birthda3T of the hostess' niece. Miss Lizzie Fry. Tea was served iu the most elaborate fashion, and the young ladies and gentlemen present pronounced Mrs. Sloan a hostess unsurpassed. Those present were Misses Lizzie Fry. Millie Jett. aArtie Shumaker, llattie Tlauser and Agnes Chamberiain, and Messrs. J. II. Deere, Charles Cloud. Harvey Sigmond and Homer Bowers. The tea as served was a collation truly delicious and Mrs. Sloan is certainly a most amiable lady in every respect. She was ably assisted in Entertaining by her sister Mrs. Fry. The favors received by the guests were elegant. All returned to tlieir homes with the assurance of an evening most happily spent.
Card Parly.
On Saturday evening Capt. H. II. Talbot and wife charmingly entertained a party of friends at their ever hospitable suburban home. Progressive euchre was the chief imusement and the liandsoms prizes were chptured by Horace Law and Mrs. Albert Miller, Ar. elegant supper was served and the evening delightfully passed.

Joseph V. He was much pleased with it, and felt sure that others similarly alllieted would like to know what cured him. He states for the benefit of the public that it is called Chamberlain's Pain Balm.
