A STRANGE CASE.
How an Enemy was Foiled. The following graphic statement will be read with intense interest: "I cannot dt'scrllte he numb, creepyaonsatkmthatexisted in my a riiis, hands and legs. 1 had to rub and beat those parts until thby were sore, to overcome in a measure the dead feeling that had taken possession of them. In addition, I had a strand* weakness in my back and around my waist, together with an indescribable 'gone* feeling in my stomach. Physicians said it wns creeping paralysis, from which, according to their universal conclusion, there is no relief. Once it fastens upon a person, t^ey suv, it continues its insidious progress until it reaches a vital point ami the sufferer dies. Such was my prospect, 1 had been doctoring a year and a half steadily, but with no particular benefit, when I saw an advertisement of lr Miles' Restorative Nervine, procured a bottle and began using it. Marvelous as it may seem, but a few days had passed before every bit of that creepy feeling had left me, and there has not been cveu the slightest indication of its return. now feel as well as ever did. and have gained ten pounds in weight, though 1 had run down rrom 170 to 137. The Midway Plaisaacc which is being reproduced this wank in the Y. M. A. armory for the benefit of the charity organization is a grand stiocess. It was'Opcned to an expectant public last evening and in spite of the inclement weather the large auditorium ami halls were packed W people who swarmed out to see the sights ami drop a few small coins in the slot for the sake of melting charity. All were surprised at the magnitude and .success of the undertaking. The gloomy old auditorium was not recognizable under the display of fancy booths, bright banners, soft lights, fair women, and bigger Indians from the wilds of the central school building. A number of the merchants had displays and their booths were models of daintiness and art! P.e.idos the business displays were attractive exhibits presided over principally by pretty girls all of whom had a keen business eye for the benefit of the organization. The Midway was pronounced by all as a signal success and general superintendent Stanley Simpson is standing up.io his neck-jiu laurel leaves.

The fat mans tableau will be one of the prominent features this evening. Twenty per cent, of the sales at Misehof's booth go to the charity fund.
The Kden Musee of Wampler. Kltzroth and Davis is one of the Mar attractions and is liberally patronized.
All the profits made from the booth of Mrs. Ceorge Abraham go to the charity organization..

Spencer, the potter, gives fancy exhibitions of his craft and attracts great attention. A per cent, of his sales goes to the organization.
Mr. Sim Kldridge favored the visitors to the Midway with a tine cornet solo last evening, while Kddie lraudkamp came to the front with a piano solo of unusual merit. The. orchestra's overture was one of the finest.
The posing of Frank Allen and Fred iregg last evening as Grecian statuary was remarkably tine, as was the tableau "Cupid Among the Ibises." in which a large number of handsome young ladies as roses and Master Molony as Cupid participated.

Harper's Ila':itr: It is told of Hannah More that she had a good way of managing tale-bearers. It is told that whenever she was told anything de rogatory to another her invariable reply was, ••Come, we will go ami ask if this be true." The effect was sometimes ludicrously painful. The talebearer was taken aback, stammered out a (jualitication, or begged that no notice might be taken of the statement. Rut the good lady was inexorable: off she took the scandalmonger to the scandalized to make inquiry and compare accounts. It is not likely that anybody ever a second time ventured to repeat a gossipy story to Hannah More. One would think her method of treatment would be a sure cure for scandal.
