Dea'h of a Child.
The death angel has again invaded the home of P. E. Wheeler, formerly of this city, now of Gas City, and taken from the loving parents their darling daughter, Ola Rea, aged nearly three years, after an illness of only about a week of throat affliction, terminating in dipinheretic croup. The little one realized that the end had come and the death scene was a touching one. The parents are almost crazed with grief over the loss of this dear, little one, the joy of their hearts and the sunshine of their home, and although Btirrounded by hosts of kind and sympathetic friends, who did everything in their "power to soften the sting and sooth tumr poriow they feel that the sunshine haB gone ont of their home forever in the death of Ola Rea, bnt in this, their darkest hour they are reminded that He who doeth all things well, can alone give theui that consolation that comforts their hearts even in their desolation aud renders their burden lijjht ei.ough to be borne.

A Bis-Show Oomine
A will be seen by our advertising columns, the great Yankee drama of "Si Plunkard" is to be presented at Music Hall to-morrow evening. This is one of the most laughable plays ever put upon the stage, but at the Bame time it ban an interesting plot. It is presented by an excellent company with tbe famous Yankee comedian, J. [0. Lewie, in the title role. The orchestra is a large and very fine one, and in fact everything connected with the show is first class. The prices of admission are low, so that there should be a packed house on tbe occasion. The press of this and other States speak in the highest terms of the show.—Press Notice.

F. Effinger, ot Bluffton, is in the city to-day, to confer with our business men and farmers relative to a canning establishment. A plant costing from $8,000 to 820,000 for building and machinery will eive emplovment to from 100 to 300 directly, and indirect!/ to as many more. It will create a market for corn, beanp, peas, tomatoes and pampkins, besides all the small fruits that cun be prodnced. The farmers particular!? should be interested in such a plant, as every acre will yield them from $40 to S200 from snoh vegetables. There is money to be made in such an enterprise and it should receive substantial encouragement.

The statement that the Secretary of ie Interior, Mr. Hoke Smith, is a Catholio, is no less false, as he happens to be a Presbyterian and the statement that his wife is a Catholic and the daughter of the rebel General who had charge ot Andersonville prison, is pure romance, without the ehndow ot the truth.
The statement that no Catholic was ropped from the pension rolls is an equally reckless one, as there is nothing in the pension olaim, nor in any of the papers in the Bureau, which in any way indioates the religion of tbe pensioners, Bnd it would be impossible to select latholics for dropping or retention if there was any disposition to do so. It is folly to pay any attention to the statements of such mountebanks.

A Suggestion, Merely,
People are getting pretty tired of staring at that gaudy picture of a bloody bull fight which decorates the drop curtain at Music Hall. It would Btrike a responsive chord in the popular breast to have the present pioture painted out and the representation of football game scrimmage substituted in its stead.
