The tragedian Walker Whitesides, having crested such a sensation among the scholarly critics of the country by his new and intellectual conception of historical artistic portrayal of the same, part of his past life naturally comes in for a review. Mr. Whiteside was born in 1SG7. Taking up the study of Shakespeare at the age of eight, he commanded the respect aud admiration of many prominent Shakespearean scholars. At the age of 16 he made his debut at the Grand Opera house in Chicago as Richard III appearing during the week as Richelieu and Othello. His reception was in the form of ovation and he was entertained royally. After three seasons of starring he retired and did not again come before the public until '90 and from that on he has been recognized as the most natural actor before the public.—Press Notice.

After Bob Osbcrn,

Editor Spence, of Covington, seems to have it in for Editor Bob Osborn, of the Waynetown Unmet. The two following shots are evidence to that effect.

The old "hay seed" editor of the Waynetown Yaller Jacket, is red hot after the postoffice. We doubt very much if he can tell the difference between a postage stamp and the same sized piece of red calico.

An elephant, old Sultan, belonging to the Great American Circus and Menagerie, broke loose at Waynetown last week and wandered np into the vicinity of Orawfordsville, where it was caught nnd captured in the bam of a Mr. Fordyce. Sultan, no doubt, was after old Bob Osborn, of the Waynetown Yaller Jacket, on account of his "Hay" Reub cry, for if there is nnything an elephant dotes

oh,

its "Hay."

In Darkest Indiana.

A wild elephant has broken loose in larkest Indiana. Well, when it isn't elephants its Hoosiere.—Chicago Mail.

The writer of the above was never in the corner of the county where Waynetown flourishes as a green b*y tree under the fostering care of Editor Bob Osborn and where this wild elephant is alleged to have committed his wicked deeds. "Darkest Indiana" is not in the town of 800 which at present is supporting a daily and two weekly newspapers.

Drunk Again.

English Mike O'Neil got full again yesterday and started for his homo in Goose Nibble accompanied by Ins wife, As they passed np Elston avenue Mike pleasantly knocked her down and proceeded to beat her cruelly. The neighborhood was aroused nnd O'Neil was placed in jail. Ho will spend the holidays on the stone pile.

Polite Society at Covington. Billy Meharry married a young lady named Holycross, on Tuesday evening, and celebrated the event by a rattling nice dance. Of course it will—that is if it is Rood, henlth.v blood. It vill glow in the eiieekj and tell tho story of perfect physical health. If it does not, if the complexion is devoid of color, tho muscles weak and tluccul, somo tiling is wrong, and something ought to be done at once. Tor in such cases delays aie dangerous. For torpid liver, "bihousuess," and the thousand and oue ills to which these conditions of the system load, thero is uo remedy in the world equal to Dr. Pierce's Golden Medicul Discovery. Boils, pimples, eruptions, scrofulous sores, saltrheum, and all kindred diseases arc cured by it.

An honest Swede tells his story in plain but unmistakable language for the benefit of the public. One of my children took a severe cold and got the croup. I gave her a teaspoonful of Chamberlain's Cough Remedy, and in five minutes later 1 gave her one more. By this time she had to cough up the gathering in her throat. Then she went to sleep and slept good for fifteen minutes. Then she got up and vomited then she wont back to bed and slept good for the remainder of the night. She got the cronp the second night and gave the same reu.edy with the same good results. I write this because I thought there might be some one in the same need and not know the true merits of this wonderful medecine. Charles II. Thompseen, Des Moines, Iowa. Fifty cent bottles for sale by Nye A- Booe, druggists.

The laws of health are taught in our schools but not in a way to be of much practical benefit and are never illustrated by living examples, which in many cases could easily be done. If some scholar, who had just oontructed a cold was brought before the school, so that nil could hear the dsy loud cough, and know its significance see the thin white coating on the tongue, and later, ns the cold developes, see the profuse watery expectoration and thin watery discharge from the nose, not one of them would ever forget what the first symptoms of a cold were. The scholar should then be given Chamberlain's Cough Remt.dy freely, that all might see that even a severe cold could be cured in one or two days, or ot least greatly mitigated, when properly treated as soon as the first symptoms apart. For sale by Nye & Booe, the druggists.

Hcli Ind the Scenes.

On the stage the tinsel, tho glitter, the powder and the paint, show forth the most, but step behind the scenes, and you will beho'd the truth. The cherus girls are not all "fancy paints them," but rather what they paint themselves just so with many of the llaining advertisements of so-called "caetrrh cures." Got back of the scenes, und they are not cures. The real ono, and the only remedy that is acure, is Dr. Sago's Catarrli Remedy. Lift tho curtain, and you will find the naked truth to be, that this Remedy is tho one that cures the worst rases of Catarrh in the Head, and no mislake. It is also a remedy in all catarrhal conditions, such as Catarrhal Headache, Catarrh of the Throat, etc.
