bloodshed
had been reported. The incorrigiblt are said to bo on the eve of an outbreak, however, and we may hear of trouble along the frontier to-morrow, as it is said they will hold a ghost dance ton:ght. A few friendlies rejvjrt that they will testify that no chair was used in the massacre yesterday and that tbe whole affair was conducted according to 1 Marquis of Ijueonsbiiry rules plus the knife and raw hide paraphernalia. Tho school board is somewhat disgusted with the turn matters have taken and last evening one of them declared himself in favor of abolishing Botany Bay and expelliug those who cannot be managed in I other rooms.
Not all of tho boys in the Botany Bav room are bad but some are placed there to ruako up work and to prepare thornsdives for entrance to some regular grade for which they were unqualified at the beginning of the year. Some or tie youngsters there are veritable little savages, however.
A WORD T) 11 USBANDS.
1 We hear much of the duty of wives to alwa-.s greet their husbands with a smile when coming home tired frotn their work. There in another side to the picture. Jf husbands would only realize 1 the thousand annoyances incident to housekeeping they would feel it just as much a duty to do all they can to make life pleasant for tho hardworking wives.

The Hoosier Athens,
One of the best known and most enterprising cities of the State is Crawfordsville. A Trade Journal correspondent heppened into the Indiana Athens last Saturday. The last dpy of the week is always a busy one with the merchants there. They offer much inducement to the consumers in the surrounding country, and great friendliness exists between the buyers and sellers. Good roads run in every direction from that place. In fact it might be said that all Montgomery, county roads lead to Crawfordsville. Her 10,000 people do much towards keeping up the home market, giving it a preference to scampering away to the bargain counter of the larger cities. The good railway facilities afford several factories an o[ portunity to command much outside patronage. Situated as she is, in the heart of a rich agricultural district, and enjoying a reputation for enlightenment and energy as she does, Crawfordsville has many reasons for shaking hands with herself. All branches of retail trade are represented by substantial business houses that show much beauty in their arrangement and well assorted stocks. The Athens merchants are liberal patrons of Indianapolis jobbing houses, where they very frequently visit and where they have a young army of friends. hulianapoli.t Trade Journal.
Surprise I'arty at New Ross. Yesterday evening at 7 o'clock several young friends called at the residence of F. M. Stoner to tender his daughter, Stella, a surprise. Jenelte Reid, Esta Brown, Nevy Routan, Susie and Dora Connor and Clarence Hobson, Gilbert Wilson, Clide Mote, Tom Duke. Henry Mars, Clem Duke, Bert Newkirk and A. W. Johnson
The Last Rally.
The Republicans wound up the campaign last evening with an enthusiastic rally. At the Morton club a number of joiners wore initiated including four or live Democrats, and then headed by the band the club, about -100 strong, paraded the streets winding up at Music Hall, where a large- audience was addressed by Judge Thomas and Hon. P. S. Kennedy, both of whom made sound and ablo speeches on the political issues of the day.
A Good Sign.
A big bald eagle Hew down Main street this morning at about ten o'clock. This was taken as a favorable sign bv the Republicans and encouraged them in their work for the good cause.
Sick Headache, whether from constipation, indigestion or from impurities in the blood, iscured by Irish Herb Tea. 25c at druggists.
To-Morrow Night at Music Hall If you are fond of minstrelsy, nnd there are few performances that give better satisfaction than a good minstrel show, you will miss one of the cleverest minstrel shows traveling it you do not see Gorman's High Class* Minstrels. Thoy will positively give one of tho best minstrel performances ever seen here. The novelty begins when tho curtain rises and continues throughout. Tho Gormans themselves are well known to fame and they are supported by the best specialty people, singers and dancers that big salaries can pro mre. Watch for the street parade, it will be well worth seeinc.
They will be at Music Hall to morrow evening aud will undoubtedly pack the house.
