Will Decide To-Night—The Parties Are Favorably Impressed. Messrs. Scott nnd Caldwell, of the Fairmont. Cannery Factory Company, left for borne lust n'ght. Before leaving they stated to THK JOURNAL that they were much more favorably impressed with Crawfordsvillo than with uny point they had visited and would urgi its selection as a location for their new factory. The company is composed of five gentlemen, and one greatly f.ivors Uearustown, 111., but Messrs. Scott andCaldwell are greatly against it and think Crnwfordsville will be chosen. The matter is to be settled at a meeting of the company this evening. "If we decide to locate in Crawford3ville," said Mr. Scott, "we will probably return next week to purchase a location for our plant. We desire a place from about 20 to JO acres and we snw dozen good ones to-day. We purchase the greater part of the vegetables we use and so you see build up quite a market for the farmers aud gardeners. The new factory wili have a capacity of 05,000 cans a day against a capacity of 50,000 by our
Fairmont plant. Our busy season laatB about four months and during this time we will employ about 100 hands, mostly women and girls—say 50 men and boys only. You see we need but little skilled labor, our canning being done by machinery."
Every encourag* muni should be held out to the company to induce it to oome here. It would not only give employment to a large number of men and women but it would establish a splendid market for our farmers. By all tuei-ns let ns have a CRaning factory.

A Grand Rally.
Years heuce when the smoke of the political conllict shall have rolled away and we stand in the calm clear sunlight of peace nnd Republican prosperity, the gray haired grandsire shall take his lisping descendant on his knee aud tell him of the great Democratic rally at Crnwfordsville on November -1, 1S9'2. He will tell the child of the departure of the Kentucky Colonel for Oreencastle leaving the multitudes that hungered for his words, unfed. lie Bhall tell them of the speech which Tom Hudson made and of the wild horse laughs he received. Then as the blue eyed child looks wonderingly up into his face he shall tell him of how BillJohnston arose at the end of Hudson's horribly hungrv howl, and with the wind meandering through his mustache read to the countless multitude a telegram purporting to be from John E.Lamb regretting us inability to be present in the evening. Then he shall describe how the fifty angered men who had driven in through the cold to partake of a good square meal of Shought manna went out of the court honse muttering curses not loud but deep. Then as the last rays of the declining sun kissed the marble studded ccmetery on the hill the old man shall sav to the innocent child, "That is when they buried Billy the kid whe-n his throbbing head broke."
Thu Lotus Club.
The Lotus club held its first meeting under a constitution last evening in the small court room and a large percent of the members were present. The election of officers was proceeded with and resulted as follows:
President—W. E. Henkle. Vice-president—W. W. Morgan. Secretary—Harry Xaylor. Treasurer—1). N. Morgan. Board of Directors —O. B.Arms, R. C. Smith and J. R. Bonnell.
It is now more than probable that the idea of having the rooms in the third story of Phoenix block will be abandoned The stairways are narrow, dark tnd hard to climb and the club's headquarters will probably be elsewhere. At least half a dozeu very desirable. loca tions are obtainable and upon one of these the club probably agree. A Fine Tding,
Lovers of minstrelsy anticipate and will enjoy a minstrel front when Gormans' Minstrels appear. The company is the strongest in every way that has ever appeared here, and their performance is entirely new, novel and refined, discarding all worn out ideas. Their departures are noted for unique originality. Assiduous workers in the realms of novelty, they are this season presenting productions which they feel assured will eclipse anything heretofore presented by them. Gorman will be hero next Wednesday evening.
