So much talk is being indulged in regarding the Wainpler divorce suit ihat it seems expedient to miilse a note of fact or two. Mrs. W.impler's parents deny vigorously that 1 hey had anything to do with tie- bringing of the suit., and their word is backed up by that of Mrs. Wumpler's attorneys. F.TT from abetting her they really counseled against t'ie step. Mrs. Wainpler is not a wanderer on the face of the earth bv anv means, but is pleasantly located in Chicago and is employed in making fancy work for one of the well known firms ot the city. It is to be hoped thn'. this statement will tend to close an unseemly discussion. Mrs. Wampler acted on her own impulse and Rectus to be looking out for herself.

The 'Workinfftnan vs. the Democracy, To the Kiiitor tlie .tourmil. Tho Demoernta in this cnnvnss nro entering the laboring man. They ask us to point out tho possibility of the tariff doing tho laborer any good. Now wo propose to do not only this but wo will point out tho probability also. First, the Democrats say that the tarilT puts more more money in tho pockets of the manufacturer. If this be true then the employer is able and nuido able to pay higher wages by the tnriff. Then it follows that the possibility is clearly made out and comes naturally from a premise granted true by the Democrats. Then the laborers in this county have labor organizations and unions whose sole purposes are to advance wages, and the hictory of labor in this nation clearly indicates that they have and are making rapid advancements. These advancements are indicative of this fact, viz: That wages will be increased until satisfaction is had. Then the possibility that wages are and will be' enhanced by tho tariff. Then we have not only the possibility but also the probability made out. This is wo think the history of labor in this nation, and cannot be gainsaid. Bnt let us look on another picture, and the suggestion of this argument and see what the sequence should be. SuppoFe you take away the tariff, then you take away the possibility of a higher wage in this country and at the same time strike down the probability of an increase. Because the increase depends on the possibility of the employer to pay, and by so doing you make permanent tho base of the wage and the paramount scheme ot labor organizations, that of co operation, is forever ruined nnd labor eternally reduced to the competition, and competition with foreign labor at that. Then an increase in wages is impossible. If any workingman can seo any promise of good in having his wages put everlastingly on an universal competition base let hi)u vote to ruin the American system of protection. The only hope for tho workingnian in this country is by his vote to perpetuate tho possibility of the employer to pay good wage and assiduously work in his organization to get his just remuneration. This is the only hope for him to ever have protection over his European fellow workmen to lift himself above the hardships of serf dom. Let us think.

Printing the Election Ballots. Tho local ballots for Montgomery county were printed last night, by Tin: .locitNAi, under the personal direction of the board of election commissioners, composed of County Clerk Ilenrv 15. Hulett, James Wright, representing tho Democrats, and B. K. Huesell, representing the .Republicans. Eighteen thousand ballots were printed and placed in pads of one hnndred each. The responsibilities connected with the printing of the ballots are great and the penalties attached for violating any of the provisions of the law are severe. There are a dozen ways for the printer of these ballots to get himself into trouble, and pare the way for a trip over the road. The work was completed at an early hour this morning and delivered to the Clerk. The Democratic member of the board will bear witness to the fact that the work was all done in accordance with t.hn Ftrict letter of the law.
Correlation of Aesthetics and Business, Milliand Iledley, residing in the northern part of Clark county, has abandoned the ordinary pursuits of farming and gone into sunflower culture. Medley's sunflower crop this fall has yielded him 10,890 pounds, for which he finds a ready market at prices ranging from S2.05 to S2.75 per 100 pounds for the seeds, and ho anticipates a much larger crop next fall. Hodley says that the demand for sunflower oil is so great in this country that there is an independent living in the business, not only for him, bnt for others who desire to follow the pursuit.

Mayor Bandel wishes to extend a word or warning to the plumbers and ditchers at work about the city. It is against a city ordinance to leave any ditch open at r.ight withont a warning light.
