This morning at 11 o'clock Michael Bnrnep, aged 8f years, died at the residence of his daughter Mrs. Eiias Mills, on east College strc

had been
sick for some time and li:s dea^h was due to old age, more than to any disease. Mr. Barnes had resided in this county for 30 years years and in Crawfordsville for over 20 yenrs. lie was a good citizen and was respected by nil. He leaves sis living children, namely: Mrs. W. T. Bnyless, Mrs. Keuben Stout, Mrs. D. Tucker of Colfax, Mrs. Ponder of Indianapolis, and Nathan and Uriah Barnes of Cincinnati. Ho was also the grandfather of county commisfioner Allen Byors. The funeral announcement will bo made later.
Beware of Bilhe Oolemau: THE JOUICSAL acknowledges itself to have been in error in deriding as ineffectual methods of suicide '-Bough on liats," laudanum and morphine. They are, we now believe, all right but we wish to warn all persons desirous of shnllling of this mortal coil, to steer lear of Will Coleman.when they purliase their poison. Mr. Coleman is engaged at Smith & Myers' drug store and it is not improbable that ho will he unanimously elected as the pastron of the "Sent For and Couldu't Como Club." illiam enjoys the enviable deslinction of having sold tho poison to every unsuccessful aspirant for suicidal honors that has blossomed in Crawfordsville for a year or more. With suave grace he dished out what purported to bo death to Mrs. Canary, John Suiters, Mrs. Watson, Annie Stevens, and, in fact, all the charter members of the suicide clnb, except Walter Layne, who used a revolver.
The Morton Olub Meetins.
The meeting of tho Morton Club last evening was one of the most enthusiastic that has yet been held. Gould Kbonds,u traveling man,was present and being called on for a speech, responded in a most felicitous and happy manner. Hon. N. B. Couberly, the Republican candidate for Representative, followed in a most excellent discussion of tho tariff and closed with a line tribute to President Harrison which evoked loud and rapturous applause. The height of enthusiasm was reached, howeven when Fr'ink Smith, a life long Democrat,, appeared and asked to bo admitted to membership iu the club. After admission he was called out and tersely gave his reasons for loaving the Democratic party. The application of another Democrat, asking admission to the clnb was read amid loud applause. The number of Democrats whose names are enrolled on the membership of tho club now rcaches forty Jice, some of whom are first voteis but the majority of them voted for Cleveland four years ago. Keep the ball rolling^

lu the Corset.
Alonzo Gloason purchased the corset of the lamented Madame Von Kokoy at the sale of her effects laEt Saturday, and was greatly suprised to find a bundle sewad in its lining. He believed, it to be a goodly wad of greenbacks but investigation proved that it, was but a few coins, somo charms and a few pages of German script. Sol I'aniH nbann: trnnslated these aud found them to be Bible quotations and mottoes. Administrator Shruin is after this treasure trovo to add to his already lnrpe find luscious collection of hokeybos.

To IheK'lItor the .lourinit. In the issue of Oct. 20 there appeared an item in THE DAILY Jot.-nx.vr, claiming that Mr. Ed Lawrence was connected with a scheme to induce one Ted Coons to move, and thereby lose his vote.
