Oarnp. Th circuit court room wasn't exactly crowded with searchers after trnth Saturday night, but the laurel crowned Col. Edwards, of Vogue's Kun was there' and Bill Unlet was there along with light smart sprinkling of their faithfuls. One gentleman present was decidedly three or f.mr sheets in the wind, the natural resultant of having "chased the can" nnd lieing more enthusiastic than the average member of this congregation of the righteous he occasionally yelled vociferously "Hah for Brookshire and Cleveland." This outrageous attempt to get the endgate of the wagon before the horse at tirst bored the unterrified, but finally got them into a great good humor, and really won many to the belief tbiU Vorv

ually a bigger mnn thau the stufTed prophet of Buzzard's Bay. So every, body was in a great good humor when the renowned pop destroyer entered attired in his famous Kentucky colonel slouch hat nnd his long Prince Albert coat in the bosom of which Vorv carried his good right hand which he used in making gestures when he speaks of "the whole world" or "from Maine to California," or "the sturdy electors of Coal Creek township." The procession from the hotel Bobbins was a thing of wonder, nnd strnngers thought that some one was getting drummed out of town. The Democratic drum corps brought up the head of the procession and made noise enough for a whole campaign. The procession proper consisted of Mr. Johnston who led Mr. Brookshire by his lily hand. They were followed by ex-postmaster Booe, ex-disl lllery gnager John Manson, and ex-councilman from the second ward, G. W. L. Brown. That was all, bnt it was enough. Arrived at the court room Chairman Johnston, whose bosom shone with a lustrous Swallowtail badge, introduced Mr. Brookshire in his usual happy manner which was very short and consequently very bnppy. Mr. Brookshire was there for mutton. He dews not believe in the farmers raising sheep when the country can buy them of foreigners. He had statistics to proTe what he couldn't prove, and looked as though he actually believed he had done more real damage to tho sheep industry than a whole drove of sheep killing dogs. The ciowd was so awed by the overmastering argument that it wholly forgot to applaud, but at the conclusion of tho speech all joined in Binging the following beautfnl anthem written for the occasion by

Maurice Thompson: Oh Vory! ill our Injury of eiiso Coy mill uncertain, lianl to pU- i.-.e.

When turllT questions knit our brow -A ministering- iinncl Uiun nrt Own: When Mr. Brookshire closed Col. Mulberry Sellar delivered a short oration on sugar. He began with the following axiomatic statement: "In the bright lexicon of youth there is no such word as cheap sugar." Col. Sellar then proceeded to show how his own sugar interoHt had been ruined by the McKintey bill. Tho Colonel had on his farm adjacent to the city a sugar camp and last spiing he industriously tapped liis four sugar trees and his sixty-three elm trees, and with some good brown sugai added he soon had on hand an elegant supply of superfine maple syrnp nnd sugar. But thnt outrageous McKinley bill had so reduced the price of granulated sugar that it was impossible to find a market for his, so he was obliged to take it to the Greencastle convention to treat the delegates. It was a very glorious occasion, and no doubt did material damage to the McKinley bill ind the ltobber Tariff "svhich robs voi: and robs I."

•A Very Pleasant Affair Extra 73, north on the Monon, jumped tho track at the Market street crossing last night and succeeded in placing a car of stone in such a shape that the Battle Ground excursion on its return trip got the benefit of a two hours' lay out in this city. There was a great kick among tho unterrified on the train but they soon took down when the discovery wns made that good, cool beer was on tap not very far from the wreck and the rush that was made up the street after it sounded like the regnlar army had been ordered to the scene. When the train got started there was not a dry throat in the crowd and as it pulled out they were only prevented from making another trip up own by the conductor convincing thi-m hat there was more of the foaming on tap at GreencaBtle nnd all intermediate stations.

There are but eleven living members of the class—most of them ministers—but they are hustling nnd believe they can succeed. The movement is led by Key. T. D. Fyffe, of this city.

Cracked His Head.

Earnest Dl:ncan was out riding Saturday on a high stepping nag. The nag got fnnny along in the course of the evening nnd threw Mr. Duncan off. He struck on his head and was rendered unconscious. He bled profusely and is still feeling very badly.

A Victim of the Cigaiette.

Bert Mclntyre, aged 21 years, died at Ladoga Saturday after a short illness The doctors claim his death was causcd by the smoking of cigarettes. Young Mclntire would buy cigaretts by the dolhr's worth and smoke four or live boxes a day.

—Mr. Columbus Beck, our esteemed fellow townsman, spent all day yester lay in what the uncultured call "living the duck." He wns drunk as a French nobleman at coronation when the police gnthered him in and buried him in the body of tho jail. He was asked to contribute $10:35 to the school fund to-day bnt steadfastly refused. Mr. Beck is a man of determination and groat force of character. —ltov. Geo. W. Switzer. of Crawfordsville, has performed his arduous duties as secretary in tho most faithful and efficient wnv. The demands upon his time and patience have been enormous, but he always seems to havo surplus of both.—LaFayellc Call. —Sheriff Bible and wife, Wright Alejander and wife and Grant Agnew have returned from a week's fishing trip on the Wabash. Thoy claim to have captured a cat lish weighing over thirty pounds but nobody believes them. —Charley Milford, Mayor of Attica, spent Sunday in the city.

The Father of Many Ills. Constipation lends to a multitude of physicial troubles. It is generally the result of carelessness or indifferenco to tho simplest rule of health. Eugene McKay, of Bradford, Ont., writes: "I had for years been a sufferer from constipation, had taken a great many different remedies, some of which did me gocd for a time but only for a time, then my trouble came back worse than ever. I was induced by a friend whom Brand reth's pills had benefited to try them Took two each night for a week, then orecach night for six weeks. Since that time I have not experienced the slightest difficulty, and my bowels move regularly every day. I firmly beliove that for sluggishness of the bowels, nnd biliousness Brandreth's Pills are far su perior to any other."
