Mr. Brookshire.
Hon. 15. V. BrookBhire went down to Ladoga, to-day after spending a couple if days at the Bobbins House writing letters after the manner of his patron saint, Grover Cleveland. Mr. Brookshiro looks well and feels well and seems to know "where ho is at." Asked as to his programme for the campaign he said: "I will go down on the farm with father and mother for a week or so and recuperato on some good old fashioned cooking. After that I will go to Sullivan whero my flrst speeches will bo delivered." "Are yon in chargo of the district committee?" "No. Unfortunately the chairmen of all the district committees nre for Carpenter. Of course Mr. Filbock is and J. M. Iloskins, the Democratic chairman, and Frederick J. S. Robinson, the People's parly chairman, are both brother-in-law of Carjientor. S'» I'm afraid I'll not be in it."
Mr. Brookshire gave one of his hearty campaign laugliB to indicate that this WIIB a joke and expressed bis utmost conlidenco in Mr. Hoskins. ,,,

Oost of tbe Accident.
In resisting the tax nppraise-iient put upon the Monon Judge Fields told the State Tax Commissioners that the acci dent near this city last wintor cost the company S!5,000. He also stated that the road was at first built cheaply and the policy seemed to be to go around hills rathor than through, consequently in one place 01: the road the tiain runs twenty miles its order to pass in a direct line but five miles. He also said that the ro ndbod was so poor that accidents were very unfortunate. If the road was really worth 817,000 per mile, the nppraised value, the accident near here would not have occurred, because a better grudo of rails would have been in use.
