PKOMINENT CITIZEN INJURED.

Mil. Galey Found Lying in an Uuconscious State in a Stable Stall. LaBt evening Scott Galey found his father, Mit. Gnley, in the stablo lying in an unconscious state in tho stall. Tho alarm wns given and Mr. Galey was removed to the house. A messenger was sent to the city after a doctor and hiB brother, Heal Galey, and they were soon by tho bedsido of tho injured man. It was found tliHt Mr. Gnley had a gash above his left eye, which is supjKjsed to have been caused by the hoof of a cow, and tho bucket of milk upturned.

Mr. Galey was still unconscious tins morning, and suffered from concussion, and the final outoome of the case is in donbt. In tho evening Mr. Galey went to the bum to milk the cow, and what tookplaco from that until he was discovered is not positively known. It is sure, however, that the cow either kioked him, or he was overcomo by the heat, and falling over wns stepped upon by tho cow. While tho injury is of serious nature, still his many friends are hopeful of his speedy recovery.

A Progressive Order.

It wes a busy time at Camp 0, 1'. O S. of A., last evening, nnd great amount of work was accomplished. Applications for membership were received, and there is a good prospect for a large increase in numbers. The President waB authorized to pny the funeral 1enefit to the relatives of C. O. GraveB, deceased. lie was the first member of the order who has died. Resolutions were passed concerning the death of Mr. Graves, and also complimenting the late State President upon his administration, nnd expressing confidence in the present State oflicials. C. O. Williite has resigned as Recording Secretary on account of having secured employment at Indianapolis. An olection to fill the vncancy will bo held next Tuesday. Word was received that the order at Indianapolis had thirty-live nameB for a Commandery, nnd they would not stop short of fifty.

A Dwelling on lire.

Yesterday afternoon the fire alarm was sent in from box 31, corner College and Plum, which brought tho department to the residence of M. S. Smith, on East Franklin street. The llames wore confined to the roof, which wns almost entirely burned away. The joists was burned so badly that it will bo necessnry to replace them, aDd the ceilings of the two front rooms damnged by fire nnd water. The household goods wero removed in good condition. The fire commenced in the roof nnd the only theory plausible for the origin is from an engine, which passed nlong with the gravel train several minutes before the llames were discovered by some children. The house was insured for §1,000 in theOhio Farmer's company.

As old "Rongh and lioady" would have put it, "nil the world and the rest of mankind" hereabouts are pictorially and editorially ndvised of the hilarious fact that Sells Brothers' Big Show of tho world is to give afternoon nnd evening exhibitions at Orawfordsville on Saturday, Aug. 13, preceded by a grand free morning parado'of unusual liberality and attractiveness. The vnrious interesting nnd amusing exhibitions massed under the huge tents need not le re-enumerated, but it is pertinent to say that one nnd nil will be forthcoming, as Sells Brothers are honest nnd impartial managers, who wisely regard one man's money as good as another's, nnd everywhere, nnd at every performance, return precisely the same abundant nnd satisfactory equivalent for the price of admission.

While abroad with their show Sells Brothers added notably to its special attractions by purchasing in Australia, East India and elsewhere, many exceedingly rare and royal wild beasts, birds and reptiles among thorn three tremendous tigera, any one of whioh is big onough to swallow any other one heretofore exhibited whole drove of giant kangnroos of varied hue a Hock ol splendid, full-grown nnd baby omus prodigious constricting serpents, singular npes, and superbly-plumaged, lan-guage-gifted birds.

EXCITING KA0ES.

New Roes Flyers Make Good Time—Notes of the Fair.

Nr.w ltoiw, August 9.—The attractions of this evening wero the 2:50 trot and the two-year-old rnco. Quite a crowd was out to witness them. In the 2:50 trot there were six starters: Mullen, N. D. Sellers Braden, Crit Williams Vindicator, Fletcher A: .lackson Howard S., Howard Smith Axel Grease, N. .T. Buner. After scoring several times they were oil" and on the first turn sulky spokes Hew. Mullen wns two lengths ahead with Howard S. trotting a torrillc gait, but it was of no avail. The lance bay was in it to stay and tho heal closed with Million loader and Howard S. second. Tho second heat was not so easily determined.

When the judge sent them away the bay hold tho load to tho tlireo quarter pole, when tho big bay stallion burst forth with wonderful speed and left tho lance bay at second place. The other two heats wore repeated with like results Below find the score: Million, N. D. Sellers 1 2 2 2 Braden, Crit Williams 3 3 3 3 Vindicator,Fletcher.t.Iackson3 dip. Time, 2:41, 2:40i, 2:41, 2 -.44. The two-year-old pace or trot proved quite a sensation as tho pools Bold against Harry Brocton. The horses in the race were Hustler, W. II. Orear Nels Randall, Foster Bros. Alto Wilkes, Z. K. Williams Harry Brocton, G. D. Custer. After some scoring the judge sent them nway. At tho half all were working with Nels Randall thirty yards ahead and whon the stretch was readied Custer laid whip to Brocton and on he sped driving his antagonist into the air and winning the heat easily. Tho second heat was not so amusing. At the quai

ter

polo all wero going at break

neck speed. They all came down to work together and it was a race to a finish. Randall held the lead almoBt to the wire when he broke, as did Brocton and valuable time was lost. Brocton, however, caught first and was easy winner. Tho next heat was a more decided affair, Brocton proving too much for the chestnut sorrel load tho party through and was easy winner with Hustler BCC. ond, nnd Randall third. Thus closed the race. Scoro: Hustler, W. n. Orear 3 3 2 Nels Randall, Foster Bros 2 2 3 Alto Wilks, A. H. Williams. .. .4 4 4 Harry Brocton, G. D. Custer. 1 1 1

Conetipation leads to a multitudo of physicial troubles. It is generally tho result of carelessness or indifferonco to the simplest rule of health.
