A GOOD EARLY START.
Oliauncey Graves 'Walks Out of a Second Story Window in His Sleep Sustaining Severo Injuries.
Last evening Clianncey Grnves, the well known nnd popular assistant of Ed Voris in the insurance business, wont out to the home of Lmb
Btep-ftither,
Joel
Stout, five miles northwest of the city. He intended to spend to-diiv with ft large party of young folks from that neighborhood at the Pino Hills and went out home in order to get ft good early stnrt. Unfortunately for him, however, ho Blurted little too early. This morning about 2 o'clock he arose from his bod while dreaming and began walk, as he doubtless imagined, through tho rugged pathways of the hills. Very unfortunately the window of his upstairs room was wide open nnd he walked right out, falling to the ground below with a terrible thump. He is quite a heavy boy and his fall was a terrible one. It is a wonder that he was not killed, but ho alighted
bo
that
his hip was thrown out of joint and that ho suffered numerous bruises and an awful shaking up. Tho doctors were obliged to lubor with liim along time before his hip could be gotten into place, and it will probably bo along time before ho can get about again. The accident, was a moBt unfortunate one and a very painful one as well.
Jailed.
Yesterday afternoon during tho excitement, attendant on tho balloon ascenfiion two youngsters named Harris and Woodson, rospectivoly, had a dispute in regard to the quantity of hot air necessary to raise a given weight to tho elevation of l,!i00 feet. The dispute grew into a fight and tho lads were chewing each others ears and gouging each others eyes in great style, when the police jailed them. Mrs. Ben Woodson, the mother of one of tho urchins, ran up to Ben nnd made tho tragic announcement of the arrest in language loud nnd clamorous. Meanwhile the youngsters wero fairly howling in the jail not so much from terror ns for fear tho balloon would "go up" during their incarceration. They ^were happily released before that brilliant consummation, however, and enjoyed it to the exteut of the law and their infantile natures. The urrest was a pleasant diversion for the crowd.
A Horrible Suicido.
.Tust over the lino of Montgomery county in Parke in Grange Store, and near
thiB
place lived Volney Martin, a
wealthy and prominent farmer, Martin committed snicido Monday evening in most horrible manner. He had been drinking for several days, and as his affairs were not going to suit him he became moroso and sullen. On Monday evening he lost all control of himself, and suddenly drawing a razor started in pursuit of his daughter, who terrified fled from him like ,the wind. Martin then with his razor almost cut his own head from his body, dying instantly. The affair has caused a tremendous sensation about that section.

The Oommandery Dnll—The Public Meeting—Election of Offioeas—Other Business,
The session of the Stntc Camp, P. O. S. of A., in this city, hns been attended with great success in every sense of the word. The workings of the Gamp yesterday afternoon and laBt night was taken np in receiving reports of tho different committees, nnd tho annual roport of the State President, li. Y. Comstock. Yesterdny afternoon tho exhibition drill of Crawfordsville Comtnandery, No. G8, took place on Washington street, between Mnin and Pike. Immediately precoeding this the Oommandery, headed by the Indianapolis P. O. S. of A. band, and followed by members of the order, paraded around the square. The drill was never equaled, probably, by any similar local organization of this city, nnd the successful accomplishment of the various movements wero loudly applauded. The visiting members of the order were very much taken with the appenrance of the Oommandery, and snid that they had never seen anything that would equnl our Oommandery, both in uniform nnd movements. Capt. McClamrock is drill-master of natural ability, and overy member of the uniform rank take a pride in drills, consequently the outcome is success. After tho drill Camp 5, P. O. S. of A. band, of

All the nfternoon crowds hung nround the jail in front of which "Pro!" Grinley nnd his trained dog were busy preparing their balloon. The dog took an active part in the arrangements and wngged liis tnil enthusiastically, besides biting several small boys. The professor's wife and baby were also on the ground and tho former carried a heavy umbrella with which she would occasionally whack on the head some man who chanced to step on the ropes. The professor experienced some difficulty in getting his balloon full of hot nir, and it wns only a few minuteB before seven o'clock when a wild yell from tho motley gang of small boys who had forgone their supper to see the ascension, announced thnt the balloon was off. It rose straight np in tho air fully 100 feet and the upturned
