Between it and Yountsville lish are living by thousands anil the creel bottom is fairly covered with them. Other Interesting Business.

The Council met last night with all members present and the mercury standing at 112. Although it was unsutTerably warm considerable business was transacted and some of it was very im]Hirlant business.

The committee on petition retried unfavorably on the remonstrance of the residents of east JelTerson street to the boulevarc.ing of that thoroughfare 1htween Plum and John streets. It now appears that the work will be done.

A petition for a sidewalk on the east side of south Green street from Franklin Btreet to ti city limits was referred.

Bill Dickerson, the shoemaker, and tho blacksmith in the rear of Truitt's grocery lmd a protest in against the racks in front of tlieir places but the council decided to let them stand.

The committee to which was referred tho question of the removal of the famous Pike street bridge asked for more time to make its report and an extension was granted.

The famous ColumbuB ordinance was then brought up and passed by sections. It will lie effective aftor boing published once for two successive weeks in the CUAWI oitnsvir.1.1: Daii.y Jorit.VAi,. A synopsis of this ordinance has before been given in these columns BO its general purport is pretty well understood. Uy placing 011 all peddlers, fakirs, hnwkers, solicitors, book agents, traveling doctors, etc., a very heavy license it practically excludes them from the town thus protecting both citizens and merchants. The ordinance exempts only local vegetable sellers and farmers reBiding in tho county. It will be published in full in Tim .Tokknai, within the next few dayB but itn general tenor is as given. The ordinance is a gord thing and the Council is to le congratulated.

The screen ordinance was brought up but was laid over for two weeks in order that some necessary changes might be mado.

It was resolved that Supt, Carr, of the light plant, confer with tho light committee and Bottle all bills of tho city with reference to tho light. On tomorrow evening tho Council will meet to adopt

Some who can will he givon a few days there 011 general principles.

A diHjIaratory resolution was passed for the ojwning of Hocmn Btreet from abash avenue to Main street through the Iiusenbark property just east of the Wabash avenue bridge. Uncle William Vanarsdall was inclined to kick on this but upon boing informed that "Mrs. Husenbark wanted it he exclaimed quite gallantly. "Weil, if she wants it, why of course I want it too."

A declaratory resolution was passed tor the opening of Plum street through I'Jston grove from Wabash avenue to Main street. In two weeks thocommisaionerB will be called out.

nitll HAV1S AS A PICKET.

CAMP CHASK, July 25.—Frankfort is beautifully decorated with Hags and greetings such as "Hoys, the city is yours," "Welcome to tho Gem city," and many other such too numerous to mention.

Several in the Second ltegiiuent, were overcome by the heat yesterday. The boys were turned loose us soon as tents were struck and the city was full of boys in blue.

Private Will Eltzrotli has been dubbed "Si Klegg." Sorgt. Darter and Corporal Cook drew the first rations aud it is said they drew an ample supply.

Co. I has a first class cook and every thing is served in shape. The "hoke" is one of the principle attractions of tho ground.

Co. I of Crawfordsville, has a mascott —a little colored boy about 7 yoars old. Ho wears a uniform and sports a fine sword. Hv another day he will be the protego of tho entire camp.

Hicks Knew It Was Comma:. We anticipate heat and enough of it. The month will go out very warm, witli regular storm culminations central 011 tho 31st. We adhere to our belief that the Tftinfall will bo light, and that the heat will be above normal, taking it as a whole. Tho exceptions will not be so great as to exempt any part of the globe to any considerable degree. We freely admit that we aro not fully prepared by personal observations to foretell the possible results of a Saturn equinox, central in the midst of the Bummer. We close with this warning: Let every posBible precaution be taken against the appearance nnd spread of epidemics.— The llov. Irl Hicks' Jnlv forecast.
