A Pleasant farty.
A largo number of friends were- most handsomely entertained by Miss Maude Koplor last evening at her homo in Fiskville. A Grand Foot Kace.
Tho leading citizens of Crawfordsville are determined to enliven the dull season therefore a footrace has been arranged for between Warren DaviB, Dr. (lott and .T. .T. Insloy. The Oollego Presidency.
It is rumored that tho trip of trustees O. M. Gregg nnd T. 11. ltisline to Lake Chautauqua in reference to the Wabash College presidency has not been altogether barren of results. It is said that upon their return they will make a favorable report regarding tho gentle' man whom Ihey went to see nnd will recommend his olection. Also that to the best of their belief he will accept if elected. Ho is tho .same man mentioned in Tire JOUUNAT.as being actively en gaged in edncalional work at one of the JIIOBI prominent of eastern colleges
Another Bad Kuuaway.

inBido,
During his absence the horses jerked loose and came tearing south on Green streot. They ran into another telegraph polo aftor running about a block and completely demolished the wagon. This enterprising firm is hustling around to Dnd another vehicle, but may not succeed by to-morrow. In that event those holding their tickets will liavo to call at the store for their bread and pastry.
Somewhat Embarrassing.
There was ipiite a little coined enacted in tho dork's ofllce this morning when a young man camo walking in with his prospective fathor-in law to got a marriage license. Tho document was duly mndo out and ns it was li'indod over to the happy groom Major Foote casually mentioned the price in a most happy and gratulatory manner. The young man nearly jumjied out of his shoes and soleniuly exclaimed in awe struck tones: "What! Two dollars!"
Upon boing assured that his ears had not deceived him ho began to ransack his pockets only to And that he had but $1.50. Ho was in a quandary and the result was that ho was obliged to borrow lifty cents from his wife's father to make good his shortage. It was vory embarrassing and tho young man looked as though ho had

wo have citizens that we are proud of. Hut ono evil I wisl" to speak of for the good of a certain class. It is only a few days since complaint was made of toughs throwing stones at the house of Mrs. Dixon. Now this thing is becoming too common, and I, at the suggestion of olhers, take this method of giving a word of warning to those guilty of Ihe acts, as well as the parents, for some engaged in making the disturbance are ot that age that parents should Bee that they aro at home at Buch time of night, would just say hero thai tho identity of those young hoodlums is 1

From tho hours of ten to one is their time, and now why they do it is the question. 1 can't see any excuse only that it is done oul of innate meanness. Some of them I know wore raised bettor. I and my family try to be quiet people and attend strictly lo our own business. If we have enemies we don't know it. I know we try to have none, yet we aro mado the victims of some of those smart Aloxs, and it is for that reason that write this to givt warning to the actors and to parents who allow their bo.vs to roam tho streets till midnight, for a few of us have resolved that it is unnecessary !or us lo be annoyed in that way and have quiet
