Dr. Kane arrived here tliiB morning at two o'clock, nnd hns epont tho day consulting with trustees and faculty He took dinner with Judge Thomas, at which Dr. Cunningham was present, and Inter called on Dr. Tuttlo. Ho will spend the night with Dr. Cunningham. This morning he was Been with Prof. Campbell in the campus probably discussing matters relative to his future work. To-morrow morning he will go to Indianapolis with Prof. Campbell and thero consult with more of tho trustees.

Spoiled a Safe.

Some ambitious young burglnr is going to be nipped in the bnd of an inglorious career if he doesn't have a care. He was so anxions to get tho small change thnt reposed in tho safe at G. W. Hall's coal oflice Tuesday night thnt he broke off the handle of the door. This did not solve tho combination nnd he WOB compelled to leave empty handed. To-day Mr. Hall returned to the city from a business trip and in order to got nt tho books Marshall Nye and Dumont Kennedy workod at the safe for an hour with a wire. The door will have to be sent to Cincinnati to be repaired. This candidate for the penitentiary attempt od two weeks ogo a similar burglary but could not get into the oflice. He also enrries on a system of petty thievery from Mr. Hall's money drawer.

The pi lies took advantnge of tho new moon last night nnd went gunning for trumps. They bagged seven of the dear boys, and laughed cruelly when tliey heard tho iron doors of the jail clank drearily behind them. One 0/ these tramps is tho same fellow who wns shot through nnd through here about three years ngo nnd who laid for several weeks in tho jail hovering between life nnd death. Ho hns been in the snme lucrative business of tramping, ever since he recovered.
