The Growth of the Constitution. The Ouiatenon Club was highly entertained last evening by a paper read by Judge E. C. Snyder, his subject being the rise and growth of constitutional law. He brushed away many of the crude notions prevailing among the masses that the constitution was conceived in the brains of the men who made and ordained it, and showed that it was the outgrowth of the laws which governed the colonies from the settlement .of America. The constitutional fathers had the wisdom to collate -and put these laws into the form of a constitution for the governmenment of the new Kepublic. At Music Hall To-Night,

Mr. Mayo's impersonation of the honest backwoodsman is decidedly his best character, and interprets perfectly the rode manliness and brave generosity implied in the t«xt. It is throughout, a chivalrous, noble character. The homely pathos thrown into his avowal of love for Eleanor deserved and won high praise, while his devotion and bravery in withstanding the onset of the hungry wolves, was so judiciously managed as to Rvcid the overacting into which a less accomplished actor would have lapsed.—Unliton

He recently bid on a big contract in that county and lost it although his liond was good and his bid $1)00 lower than any other. Accompanied by G. W. Hanover played Butler yesterday at Madison. The game was stopped by rain in the eighth inning, the score being to 0 in favor of Hanover. Butler, however, claims that the game is a tie, having made one run in the first half, but Hanover denies this as she had not had her last inning. According to Spaulding's guide the game belongs to Hanover.

A Fiftieth Birthday.

Surely the fiftieth birthday of a person's life marks an interesting period in his career. To have lived a halt century is something which we rarely see re[leated by the individual, and the friende of Mrs. Mary Jane Endeen recognizing this fact and wishing to make her fiftieth mile stone a memorial one, assembled with well filled baskets at her homo, 3 miles north-west of the city, on Friday. Mrs. Endeen was wholly unawaro of their coming and was completely surprised. The contents of the baskets were spread npon tbe table and were htigely enjoyed by all. Mrs. Endeen received from her friends a handsome rocking chair in which she might rest and think of them in her declining years. Mrs. Endeen was born in Plymouth, Devonshire, England, in 1842. Her father and mother, now about 80 years old, are now living in England. Mrs. Endeen and husband, William, who died a few years ago, came to this country in 1870. Although all her relatives excent her children, live across the Atlantic, yet she has made many friendB here wlio aro mindful of her. X.

The readers of this paper will be pleased to learn that there is one dreaded disease that science has been able to cure in all its stagee and that is Catarrh. Hall's Catarrh Cure is the only positive cure now known to the medical fraternity. Catarrh being a constitutional disease, requires constitutional treatment. Hall's Catarrh Cure is takea internally, acting directly on the blood and mucous surfaces of the system, thereby destroying the foundation of the disease, and giving the patient strength by building up the constitution and assisting nature in doing its work. Tbe proprietors have so much faith in its curative power that they offer One Hundred Dollars for any case that it fails to cure. Send for list of Testimonials.
