You Can Draw Your Own Conclusions about our SJ.5U shoo, but there's really onl.v one conclusion that you can possibly comc lo and that Is that In shoe leather a bettor investment you ever mailc, Just as sure as you wear this shoe, Just so sure will that be your judgement of it. Some shoes are cheap without being Rood: others are good without being cheap: this shoe is cheap and good enough for the most fastidious of feet. It will tit as snugly as a made to order shoe and there are many made to order shoe* that haven't its durability. Jn all respects it's a wise purchase for the wise buyer.

Tm: .TuritNAL ib in receipt of a communication in regard to the number of half grown girls who nightly promenade our streets at unseemly hours and places. The article is ruther too warm for publication but a word in this connection is not out of the place. Most of these girls who thus bring uncom fortable comment on themselves have respectable parents, and these pnrents Bhould see to it that their daughters are in after dark. There have been several sad results from this street gadding practice by young girls in the past year and it is not to be doubted that there will be more unless the parents themselves take a personal interest in the matter and put a stop to a. ...
A Great Attraction.
A large audience greeted Mr. I-rank Mayo on his first nppearnnco in our city last evening. We had never seen the play before, and we may now BUY wo have rarely been better pleased or entertained than by the faultless presentation. Mr. Mayo links so completely his own identity to the noble character of "Crockett" that one be cornea unconscious of the surroundings, and is impressed with the reality of the scene and persons. Nothing more natural, graceful and freer from gush or rant liavo we ever seen on the stage than Mayo's "Crockett," and, indeed, we may say that so faithful a portraiture of a chivalrous, pure and noble character is equal to a sermon.—Savanna',! Yesterday marked the !)lth milestone in the life of Hev. A. B. Cunningham, of the Christian church, and the congre gation turned out last night almost en masse lo poipetrate a surprise upon him Mr. C. was held at prayer meeting by prearranged plan until the crowd was safely under shelter. Elegant refreshments wore served by the ladies nnd on behalf of the congregation M. 8. Hasting presented the pastor a fine Bagster Bible, as an evidence of their friendship ind appreciation "of his work for the "church, to which Mr. Cunningham responded aa gracefully as the nature of the occasiou would allow. The relationship between the pastor and people of tlio Christian church is very close, and the cnuse is moving forward without a jar.— U'uuliinylon Democrat.

A TRAGIC DEATH.
Miss Alice Larew, of This Uounty, Meets a Traeic Death Hear Cincinnati, Some time ago Miss Alice Larew, the daughter of Mrs. Amanda Larew, the postmistress of Elmdale, went to Cincinnati and t-Kik employment at the Mtinds hotel, which is kept by a friend of the family. Sunday with a party of friends she attended a picnic at Woodsdale Island, on the Big Miami. About four o'clock in the afternoon with John Bolin and the Misses Clark and Te-n-hnendfeld, she went out for a boal ride above the dam. Bolin was inexperienced and careless and Misses Lerew and Clark were drowned and the other lady very nearly. AVhen rescued from the water Bolin told the following story: Ho had rowed down the river to the buoys and as the river was BO smooth concluded to go beyond the limit allowed by the management of the island. For some distance the boat was allowed to float with the current. Ho was entertaining his companions and not noticing how far he was going until suddenly one of the women called out that they were approaching the dam. Bolin then started to turn the skiff to go back but too late, for the current swiftly carriod the boat toward the danger point. Although the dam is several hundred feet wide the river only Hows over a part of it. It forms a fall of about four feet high, and it would be impossible for a boat the size of the one in which the party was to shoot it in safety. Seeing that he could not save the boat from going over the dam Bolin tried to steer the skiff, in a vain attempt to make it in safety. To add to the excitement the three women, who now realized their danger, commenced shrieking and calling for help. Bolin called to them to hold on to the boat, and not to move if they wanted to save their lives. Despite his warning they jumped up and were about to throw themselves out when the frail craft shot over the dam. The next moment it was upset and whirling round in the eddy at the foot of the falls. As soon as Boin got his head above tuo water he caught hold of the boat and looked for his companions. They wero some distance from him, struggling to keep their heads above water. Miss Tonhueudfekl waa closest and he saved lier but the others were seen no more UDtii tlieir bodies were rescued Monday night. The remains of Miss Lerew arrived here last night from Cincinnati in charge of her father Garret Larew and wore taken to the Potts graveyard, north-west of this city, and interred. The family has the sympathy of all in 'this terrible calamity.
Elegantly Entertained.
Last evening at their home on east Wabash avenue Mr. and Mrs. A. E. lieynolds were at home to their friends who were received at seven and at eight o'clock. The rooms of entertainment w, re beautifully decorated and palms and bouquets of cut llowers wero everywhere. The mantels and chandeliers were adorned with trailing vines and bright blossoms and the scene presented was a most lovoly one. Mr. |and Mrs. Reynolds who received the guests of the evening to tho number of about one hundred were assisted in entertainment by several of their young friends, and the convenience and comfort of overy guest was attended with rare foresight and grace. Delightful music was provided for the occasion and in the dining room which was especially beautiful as to adornment, tho choicest of refreshments were served. The affair was a most successful one in every sense of the word and Mr. and Mrs. KeynoldB proved themselves model entertainers. This ovening they will receive another large party of friends.
