nose is a criterion he is not adverse to it. Well, this worthy con pie have been preparing to move back to Fort Wayne, because a commission of lunacy recent ly refused to give Mrs. Matthews a birth in the insane asylum. Last night they went up to the room of Frank Kariden in Joel Block, third lloor, and nsked shelter for the night. Mr. Kariden is well fixed as to beds which he used in the time of Mrs. Kariden and the cliil dron. Accordingly, when the callers asked to sleep on the lloor with the cat. Frank protested and taking otT one of the feather beds limned it to them along with his largest pillow and a torn night gown. lie then turned over and slept the sleep and snoreii the snore of the philanthropic just. However, he had taken regular boa constrictors to his bosom. Those Matthews folks were up with the dull dawn and having dressed aB cjuietlv as they could went through the whole establishment. Frank hud a box wi eight razors anil thov tool seven foi luck considerately leaving I'rank one with which to cut his throat should he feel so inclined. They ate up all the preserves in the cuploiird and drank up all the currant wine. Then thev de liberately utole eight dollars which Frank had on the top phelf wrapped up in a piece of llour .-ack with a rabbit's foot. Then they ran off chuckling to themselves,. One of them fell down stairs and this awakened Frank, whe quickly arose and loooked for his razors and dollars. All were gone. Then he complained to the police and there wat a mighty loading of guns and buckling on of clubs and a hurrying to the rai road stutions by the minion of the law But all in vain. The Matthews dele gation had evidently been 11 on polici tactics and left town by the gravel road or across the fields on the green, crassy grass. As yet they have not been nj prehended.

The readers of this paper will ., pleased to learn that there is one dreaded disease that science has been able to cure in all its stages and that is Catarrh. Hall's Catarrh Cure is the only positive cure now known to the medical fraternity. Catarrh being a constitutional disease, requiresn constitutional treatment. Hall's Catarrh Cure is taken internally, acting directly on the blood and mucous surfaces or the system, thereby destroying the foundation of the disease, and giving the patient strength by building up the constitution and assisting nature in doing its work. The proprietors have so much faith in its curative power that they offer One Hundred Hollars for any case that it fails to cure. Hend for list of Testimonials.

TRYING TO BULLDOZE TEE UOURT.
AN umber of Democratic Meuibtrs ot the Bar Will Attempt to Dictate to Judge ilarney.
Of all the contemptible and ridiculous meetings in the history of the Montery county bar that meeting held yesterday in a Washington street legal dispensary caps the climax. It was supposed to be a meeting of the Democratic members of the Montgomery county bar, but nil the Democratic members were not present. The meeting was instigated and engineered by eo'iple of irresponsible young shysters who preside at "legal" junk shop on Main street, and tho business of the meeting was entirely in keeping with their erratic mental moariderings. The question before the meeting was thoroughiy discussed and there was considerable heated argument but members finally prevailed and with great gravity and solemnity it was resolved that the unterrilied assembled should appoint committee to wait on Judge llarney and tell him his business. This committee should tell Judge Harney that he ivas not doiiig right bv "the -boys'' in keeping a Republican court stenographer. It was resolved that the committee should go to Judge Harney, who is Judge of the Montgomery circuit court, a position supposed to be above all party claims, and tell him of his duty to the Democratic party—to dictate to him as to his ottieial acts and counsel an action on his part as unwise as it would be undignitied and small. Tho Hanna boys were there, of course, and worked hard to get the meeting to recommend Bob Osborn, but that was a little too much for tho rest to swallow and so it was merely resolved to take hold of the court's nose and say: "Here, (twist of the nose) Judge Harney, what do yon me"111 by keeping a Republican (twist) as court stenographer. You forget your duty to the Democratic party (twist) mid we intend to remind you of it twist). You have got to fire Mr. White twist) and appoint, A Democrat (.twist ). D'ye year? (Twist. lhe absurdity of the whole proceeding is only equaled by its effrontery, the idea of a lot of attorneys appointing a committee to dictate to the court is outrageous. To begin with there is not a Democrat (or Republican either, for that matter in tho county who is capable of taking Mr. White's position. It is a position which requires the greatest skill and long experience and it cannot be filled by any pickup who may "l'llv for it. That" a man of Judge Britton's standing would permit himseir to be appointed on a committee to dictate to the court in partisan affairs is a matter of surprise to say the least. NY ill Judge Harney permit himself to be bulldozed by cranky partisans? THE JornxAi, does not believe that he will.
