Tho programme proniif-l for the coming May festival will bo more varied than any of its pred( eessors. Mr. Dnmrosch Ivifios the comrr'ttee of crangeinents that it a'readv romplet h3.. This programme has, as was of eoniao ncce--sary, l.een chosen with a lew to the fitness of tho various principals engaged for their respcotivo jiarts. Tno fact that the Now York symphony orchestra, under the leadership of Mr. Damrosch, is to furnish tho instrumental part of tho music, will give added interest to the performances, for this will be tho first time Indianians will have had an opportunity to hear this organization at home. Of the four groat orchi itras in tho United States this New York symphony orchestra is of a more permanent oharacter than any of tho others, for it has for its home the grandest of all music halls, that one recently built by Mr. Carnegie. Mr. Damrosch has fall charge of this palace of music, and is not only the head, but the controlling musical genius of the orchestra as well as the New York Oratorio Society.

A HOME WEDDING.

The Mairiage of Wm. M. White and Miss Mattie Detchon Consummated Last Evening,

One of the most brilliant homo wod dings occurring in Crawfordsville for a long time was that of Miss Mattie Detchon and Wm. M. White, which took place last evening at the elegant east Wabash avenue residence of the bride's parents, Doctor and Mrs. E. Detchon. About seventy-five guests were present and tho largo and beautiful homo was handsomely decorated for the occasion with jotted plants and hot houso flowers. In the parlor lilies wero tho principal (lowers, while in the library carnation pinks profusely adorned tho mantles and stands. In the largo hallway, whero tho ceremony took place wore heavy banks of palms, festoems of smilax and a lavish display of bride's roses on stairs and mantels. It was shortly after eight o'clock when to the Mendelssohn wedding march, admirably executed by Miss Harmon, the bridal party descended the stairs. The con trading parties were preceded by the niece of the bride, pretty little Miss Martha Garver, of Anderson, who was attired in a dress of white China silk so thoroughly iu harmony with her blonde beauty, and who carried the wedding ring and a large bridal rose. The bride who leaned on the arm of the groom looked most charming in an elegant gown of white bengalino silk, and carried a largo bunch of bridal roses. Ar rived at tho foot of the stairs the party proceeded to tho south end of the hall and under a beautiful lattice work of smilax and roses faced about fronting the wedding guests and tho minister, Rev. G. W. Switzer, who performed the ceremony in most improssivo niumieir, using tho ritual of the Methodist Episcopal ehujeh, including tho ring service. I nmeeliately i'f*lor the ceremony the guilts proceed eel to tho dining room where two largo tables had been spread, l'rom tho chandelier, between them, broad banels of yellow ribbon were* stretched te the corners of the tables, which wero decorated with huge bunches of Marschal Neil roses. A regular supper was served by colored waiters and the wants of every guest carefully attended. After refreshments congratulations were extended and at a late hour the guests retired.1 Upon tho adjournment of the guests Mr. and Mrs. White wore driven to their new home on west Wabash avenue, where they will go to housekeeping at once. Both bride and groom are to be hoartily congratulated upon tho marriage of last evening. Mrs. White, who passed hor life in this city, has been a favorite in both church and social circles aud htiB ondean-d hersell to many hearts by her many womanly and noblo traits of character. The groom was likewise reared in this community and is a young gentleman of sterling integrity, the most thorough business principles and a genial disposition which has rondereel him most pop•uliir with all with whom ho comes in

contact.

Thr Joiunal

extends the

sincerest or- congratulations and well wishes.

The guests from out of town atten'd"g tho ceremony wero Miss Mary Curler, of Ijal'ayetto Mrs. Dr. (1 arver, of Anderson Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Throckmorton, of Romney Dr. and •Mrs. Stowo S. Detchon, of New Richmonel John Detchon, of Now Richmond: B. Grant Smith, of Dayton. Ohio J. T. Aiiller and wife, of Lebanon Harry Boggs, of Terre Haute, and Parker and Charles Simison, of Romney. The presents to tho bride were both numerous and elegant.

Another Lare Audience.

The Methodist church was well filled ',lqt night and the audience was more than entertained by Miss Kate Crary's I' Hure. To-Dight "Italy and ltomo" will be presented and tho following is a '•st of some of tho \iows to be presented:
