A New Trial Granted.

Judge Rabb heard the argument for a new trial in the caBe of Jennie Peckhum vs. Margaret Brown yesterday and granted a new trial at the argument's conclusion. The jury had awarded Mrs. l'eckham 81,600 on the statement of the court that it could Rssess exemplary damages. The case will come up again on May £3.

The Lost are Found,

Bert Condon and Frank Bailey, two youngsters of tender years, but rather varied experience, disappeared from home at midnight Monday night. Wash Condon, father of Bert, went hustling all over town yesterday in search of his pride and joy. It was reported that the lade had been mashed to a jelly by an inconsiderate Monon freight train, and you may imagine this did not totally relieve the anxiety of their families, Great wa8 the sorrow in camp until last night at about the hour of one, when the lost youths turned up without even a leg or arm missing. Their a'ppotites were not missing either ond they ate enough fatted calf and cold biscuits to have killed six boys of loss virtuous dis positions.

MorriB is a Oandidate.

Morris llerzog, of Waynetown, was passenger on the east bound Big Four train this morning and when the Craw fordsville delegation boarded the truin they failed to recognize him, so gor geous was he. His curly locks were newly oiled, his whiskers newly trimmed his plump body newly encased in new clothes and a big new diamond ob large as a lemon sparkled on his shirt front. Morris is a candidate for the honorable position of alternate delegate from the Eighth district to the Democratic Na tional convention. He is a good man and should have the place. Several years ago Morris was chairman of the company which was formed at Way no town to break up Chicago and the con vention should put him through with a whoop

PLASHES BOM OVEB THE 0ITST. —F. T. Luse headed a coterie of Ragged Reubens to Indianapolis this afternoon.

Col. Courtney has been appointed to defend George Martin who hooked the revolver. —A young Mrs. Grenard from Coal Creek township was taken to the Insane Asylum to-cav. —At the meeting of the P. O. S. of A. next Tuesday evening a literary and musical programme will be-rendered in addition to the regular exercises. •The Odd Fellows and their wives will attend services at the Baptist church next Sunday in a body. Rev. G. P. Fuson will preaoh a special sermon for the occasion. -The will of Dudley Young has been admitted to probate, the objection having been withdrawn. It is alto gether probable that the heirs who were slighted will institute contest proceedings in the near future. —The sale of seats for tho National Flower has been most gratifying. Only very few now remain on the lower floor, and the prospects are that standing room will have to be sold to-mor-row evening. -Nick Filbeck, of Terre Haute, chairman of the Republican central commit tee of the eighth district, was in the city to-day on his way to Covington. Mr.

Filbeck reports Republican harmony all over the district with tho prospects for a glorious victory most flattering. —Some mighty mean man has played a cruel joke on the Prohibitionists of Crawfordsville. Nearly every member of that party in the city hos received a circular from tho Keoley Institute at tended by a private letter which states that the institute has been informed that they are victims of the drink habit. Special rates are offered rb inducements to the sufferers to got them to take the treatment and be saved.

Death of James Galbreath.

James H. Galbreath, an old sold'er, is dead. Born May 13th, 1838. He early united with tho Christian church. He volunteered in the U. S. regulars and served six months. Afterwards enlisted in Co. of the 135th regiment, Indiana volunteers and was mustered in May 23, and out Sept. 29, 1804, for tho "hundred days' service." Whether on picket guard, facing the enemy's fire on fields of battle, or under tho surgeon's knife, his patriotism never deserted him. Died April lf, 1892. Funeral services at his residence, Rev Thomas Shanklin officiating. Ho was to all a friend, generous and true, and everyono who knew him was a friend to him. Strange coincidence, this noble hearted man died in his country's service, carrying the mails. The homage of his country, his comrades and his fellowmen belong to him which is more lasting than bronze or marble. Beautiful sight, hiB comrades forming again in liuo of march, twenty-two in number, carrying in their midst the Hag he loved so well. They inarched to the Linden cemetery, where with him lie buried an equal number of the nation's dead, and there planted on his grave the laurel and the arbor vitae, and over all the stars nnd stripes. Comrades in ranks, Abner Newkirk, Marshal Wm. Keeney, Flag S. Montgomery, Jesse Clemens, A.iron Layton, John McCorkle, Thos. Slavens, B. B. Rusk, Alex Kinnamon, Geo. Benefield, James Galey. Jno. Clark, Mexican Franpis Bruso, Perry Rash, Jno. Bennett, Thos. Mason, Frank Mason, Dick Holliday. Simon chael, Sam Johnson and Will Eastwood, Sons of Veterans. X. Z.

The Great Vod Bokey Case. Counts Courtney and Shrtim are again out from their feudul castles and doing battle in the cause of Irina Von Rokey, deceased. Mr. Courtney made his formal motion to-day to depose Mr. Shriun from the administratorship of the deceased's estute. He wanted the court to depose Shrum, dismiss tho suit hi had brought against the Monon in the name of Irma's estate and charge all costs to him. Mr. Courtney said tho road was anxious to settle but that it wanted to settle with him. He then rend the power of attorney which was conferred on him by Irma's legal heirs. Irma's real name was Maria Fuciis, and the legal heirs are William, Kd and Rub i'nehs, of Vienna, Austria. Will is calami maker, Ed hats a fruit stand and Rube is a musician with a monkey. They are all good men and true, nnd introduced the sworn statement of Ludwig Vanguduensburg, Chancellor director of the imperial house of the exterior, to that effect. Judge Harney now has the case under advisement.

Judge Harnay, however, ordered Mr. Shrum to take no moro action as administrator until he gave final decision.
