Second Annual Reception and Banquet of the P. 0. S, nf A. The l'.itriotu- Order, Sons of America,! held their second mmu.'il reception at! thoir large camp room last eveuini and banqueted at tho Nutt House, returning to the hall and duneod until 1 o'clock. Washington Camp, No. t, was organized in this city two years ago with twenty-three charter members, and today has membership of near one hundred and fifty. The growth lust year was phouomeriil, and is bound to so continue as the principles and workings of the order are disseminated among the people. It is true that tho majority of tho members of Camp 0 are young men. yet any man of good character (such persons are always loyal to our American ideas is .eligible to membership. After a pleasant hour of convcrsiitii.n and enjoyment the lino was formed and the march was started headed towu.u tho Nutt House, where the sumptuously laden tables were cnptiued by graceful maneuvers. 'J'fco diii'nj room was beautifully decorated wit!' bunting and flags and tho silken banner of Cuuip was suspended from the central piece in the ceiling. The tables were adorned with plants, which in contrast with the American colors ovei'nead aud the bountiful supply of good things of this life, made those present thankful that they lived in free and united America. After the divine blessing was invoked by Rev. R. S. Inglis, the guests were seated and trouble commenced—with the -rti r.xr:

E. E. Baker, of Leadville, Col., National Organizer of the P. O. S. of A. being present, was called upon and responded with a few appropriate remarks. From the hotel the majority of the number went back to the camp room and enjoyed a season of "tripping tho light fantastic." The guests were Rev. R. S. Inglia and wife, Rev. S. W. Brown and wife, E. E Baker and lady Miss Emma Conner), and repreresentutives of the papers of this city and their ladiea. Regrets bad been received from several of the State officers. The participants were very much delighted with the manner in which the banquet was prepared, and with the interest taken by Mr. Brenizer, of the
Nutt House, in his successful efforts in making each individual feel welcome to the banquet spread. May this order continue to grow until its principles are firmly interwoven into the very bone and sinew nf every inhabitant of our country, then will we know that after this generation h.is passed across the long-dreaded river, our country will be still united so long as time shall roll around.

In addition to tho temples in England there are teiripien in Gibraltar. Malta, Cyprus, Cairo, Ceylon, the Gold Coast, West Indies and British Guiana, Fancy a church trying lo prosper whilst it failed to maintain a Sunday school or how could an army be kept up to its strength with recruits, or the profes sional institutions of a country .without the training colleges for the young? It would bo just as rational to except childless home to continue into future generations as to except an organization like our to tluive and be ready to fight tho battles of the futuro without training the young. Our expectation and hope is in them, and it our order noes not lay hold upon them, and educate and equip lliein in the highest principles of total abstinence, they will be caught by organizations giving them a foebie and incomplete training and knowledge of their highest and best in terests and responsibilities.

It is very creditable indeed and shows net rofits to the concern on am investment of S5,000, something more than 8SOO, and counting tho supplies, etc., which may be regarded as assets, the profits will run to 81,000, or 20 per cent, of the investment.—Lebanon Patriot. —We can have natural gns piped to Ladoga from the Crawfordsvillo line before next winter if we want it. There is some risk it is true, bnt the income will be a large per cent of the cost. WOMENS WET FEET
or
ISFISITK TKOU11LK.
What the Combined Wisdom of the Itoctom Is Upon Thin Importont Subject and what They
Have to Say.
The New York Sun has been doing some valuable work lately in investigating the real cause of all this sickness which is devastating the land. Sergeant Dunn, of the Weather Bureau, and al! the leading doctors agree that wet feet are the prime cause of the trouble. One prominent physician Bald: "If people would only have sense enough to keep their feet dry they would be all right. I tell you, wet feet fill more grave yards than any epidemic of cholera. The average business man goes down town and tramps around in the wet until his feet are cold and damp. When he woes home, instead of putting on dry 6ocks and warm slippers he takes a drink of something hot. Be gets into another perspiration, and'the chances are that he will catch more cold." "With the women it is the same way. Take the young girls you see tramping about in the mud of Fifth avenue and Broadway, or any city for that matter. Nine out of ten have got on low shoes. Is it surprising that they have colds? They have not had time to lay in their winter stock of footwear, or else they think their feet look better in low shoes, nnd they wear them until the snow falls. If simply taking cold were all it would not be so serious. A cold can be secured very easily but it is not as easy to get rid of it. No woman ever took a cold but what it affected her kidneys. The kidneyB are the first spot that a cold attacks. A man or woman may cough or sneeze. Why Because the kidneys are clogged—stopped up with cold. The cold forms a dam that Btops the current, and it overflows into the head, and we call it influenza into the lungs and we call it pneumonia. The quickest way to check a cold is to open the kidneys, and the surest way of doing this is by the use of something reliable like Warner's Safe Cure. I am certain that great cure has stopped more colds and saved more lives than any other known remedy of the present day, or, for that matter, of any age.
In connection with, and in complete confirmation of the above, is a statement made by Mrs. R. F. McMurray. residing on St. Paul's avenue, Staton Island. She says: "My mother, Mrs. S. A. Vanderbilt, and myself, owe our health, and I alfeel our lives, to Warner's Safe Cure. I apeak from a long experience. Recently I hid a most severe attack of tho grip, arising from a cold, and tho Safe Cure made me feel like a new person. Other members of our family, and nlso many friends and acquaintances, have had equal benefit, and all highly recommend it.''
Wot feet start a cold. A cold invariably attacks the kidneys. Sickness, suffering and death often follow. Keep your feet dry. If possible avoid a cold, but having contracted it stop it at once and by tho best means you can find for certainly doing so. This advice is sound it comes from the highest sources and it should be followed most carefully.
