Entertained.
On Saturday evening the Misses llerron charmingly entertained quite large parly of their young friends at their home on west Wabash avenirt?. The house was handsomely decorated and the evening was delightfully passed. The refreshments were dainty and elaborate and the guests wore most pleasant ly entertaiued. The Oomins Knights Templar Conclave.
The monster demonstration of the Knights Templar conclave to occur in Denver next August, is not nt all appreciated by the average citizen. Tho following facts were obtained by President. Elbert, of the Denver Chamber of Commerce: Up to date 39,000 people huve contracted for rooms: 20,000 more have engaged Pullman cars for their accommodation, and over five hundred of these cars will stand in the Denver yards and be occupied by the 20,000 attendants at the conclave. Stretched out in line the sleepers would form an unbroken train seven miles long.
Poisoned By Lead.
Marion D. Smith, aged 48 years, died lust evening nt G:30 o'clock at his home on west Jefferson street, of black erysipelas brought on by cutting hi6 finger a week ago and poisoning the wound with lead while working as a plumbor. Funeral at 11 to-morrow, in this city. The body will be taken to his old home in Connersville for interment. Mr. Smith leaves wife and seven children in destitute circumstances. Mr. Smith served in the army from June, '61, to June, '(TT), and was a private soldier in the famous Wilder Brigade, being connected with the 20th Indiana battery.
He was a hard working, hone.t man.
1'arcwell, Sweet Creature.
Miss Helen Love concluded to pocket the Monon's proffered $50, together with her rage and disgust, and accord ingly left to-day for her home in New York. It is rumored that she leaves a couple of broken hearts behind, but we trust this is untrue. She can't dance in the ballot again until next Fall, but if her company ever comes to Craw fordsville it will have a big house. Helen is a dear, sweet little thing even it she does say "durn." The ouly victims of the late disaster now in Crawfordsville are the Everetts, and Mrs. Everett is slowly improving.
A Great Sticcesa.
There are many remarkable successes on the road this season, but none ex ceed the popularity enjoyed by the latest New York success. "She Couldn' Marry Three." Press and public accord an ovation wherever presented. The scenic effects are superb, tho story an intense and interesting one, unlike the many unreasonable and unnatural pinyi with which the public are surfeited. It is full of hearty laughter, bright and catchy music, the most sensational climaxes.
The company is one of the strongest on the road, the scenery the most mag nificent ever built, and as the curtain rises on each act, prolonged applause attest the public appreciation of eacl beautiful stage picture. The great scenic artists, Messrs. Daniel Crimminu and Herbert Speck feel justly proud of their work on this production.
The Hero of .Romance.
Young Alexander Salvini appeared here first under the management of M. Hill, as loading man to Margaret Mather. It was at the time the three wore making their first tour together that I met Mr. Ilill in the lobby of the Academy one night after a performance of "Komeo and Juliet." "How do you like Miss Mather?" ho exclaimed en thusiastically, "Is she not 11 perfect Juliet''" "She is indeed," I replied. "But where did you get that young Borneo?' He is superb." "Salvini!" Mr. Hill said indifferently. "Oh, yes! certainly, a son of tho Italian tragedian, Tomaso Salvini. A fa'ir player," and he stroked his flowing beard complacently for a moment and again launched into praises of his star. Shortly afterward Tomaso Salvini witnessed his son's rendition of "Borneo," and when the play was over he wont behind the scenes and s:iid to him: "My boy, return to Italy you will never make an actor." Young
Salvini, despito his fathors suggestion, studied and worked, improving with each passing year, creating and playing most brilliantly many important roles until not only the American public and critics acknowledged the presence of a glorious young tragedian, but the eider Salvini also bowed to his son's superior ability and power.—"i.Hatie" in Jialtimore Telegram.

A PROFITABLE, TALK.
OUlt SPECIAL REPORTER CUKES THE FACTS.
i.V. Y.Simi)
Two days ago one of the most prominent professional men in New York published a letter so outspoken, so unusual as to cause extensive talk and awaken mueh comment. Yesterday I interviewed the gentleman us to the contents of the letter, and ho fully confirmed it in every respect. He not only did this but he also mentioned a number of unusual cases which had come under his observation in which little less than a miracle had been performed.
So important has the entire subject become that I determed to investigate it to the bottom, and accordingly called upon Mr. Albert G. Eaves, the promt nent costumer at No. 63 east Twelfth street, the gentleman mentioned in my interview with the doctor yesterday. Mr. Eaves has made quite a name. A complete knowledge of history, an appreciation of art and reliability are es sental in liis profession. "Mr. Eaves," I said, "I learn that your wife has had a most unpleasant experience are you willing to descr'be it?"
The gentleman thought a moment and an expression of pleasure passed over his face. "When I think," he said, "of what ray wife passed through and the condi tion she is in to-day, I cannot but feel gratitude. Nearly three years ago she was at the point "of death. You can understand how sick she waB when say sho was totally blind and lay in state of unconsciousness. Three doctors attended her and all agreed that her death was only a question of hours, perhaps minutes." "May I ask what the doctors called her trouble?"
Uraemia and puerperal convulsions so you can imagine how badly she felt At last one doctor (it was Dr. R. A, Gunn) said that as she was still able to swallow on more attempt might be made and a medicine was accordingly given her. She seemed to improve at once in a few days her sight was re stored. 'I have had a long, long sleep, said she, upon recovering consciousness, and I am rejoiced to say she was re stored to perfect Tiealth wholly through the use of Warner's Safe Cure, which was the medicine we administerej when she was past all consciousness."
I looked at Mr. Eaves as ho said this His face was beaming with satisfaction and he continued "The phyticians told us after my wife's recovery, that sho could never endure childbirth, and yet we have fine boy nearly a year old, and do not know what sickness is. I attribute it all to the wonderful power of Warner' Safe Cure. Why. my sister, who liveB in' Virginia, was a while ago, alllicted precisely as my wife had been. I at once advised her to use tho same great remedy and it cured her promptly." "Yr find that it is especially adapted for women, do you?" I inquired. "By no means. I have known it to be wonderful iu its power in tho case of gentlemen to whom I Lave recommended it. I speak frcyn my experience entirely, and you Bhould not be surprised that I am so firm a believer in this discovery, which has dono so much good for me."
I was not surprised. I saw by every word, by every look, that Mr. Eaves meant all he said. I had ample confirmation of Dr. Gunu's letter and interview, and I do not wonder that people who have seen such things, who have

watched their dearest friends go down into the dark valley and bo brought back into tho light, should be both enthusiastic and grateful. I myself, caught the spirit, and I shall be glad if the investigations I have made prove of profit to those who 111 ay read them.
