Young S.'lvim has just closed one of the most remarkable engagements ever played by a now star in Philadelphia, .Incl the historic old Walnut street Theatre was crowded every night to greet the ideal romantic 'actor of tho present day. The names of all the romantic stars of bygone days are associated with the. stage of tho. And it is Aggravating.

As a rule most people are intensely exasperated when, after wading through some exciting story in tho newspapers which they have devoured with breathless interest, to find at the finish it is only a trap to advertise some wonderful soap or pate-lit medicine. Of course its disappointing, but just consider lmw cleverly it done, and, by the way. what a wondeiful industry has been desvloptd in this mode of iidvel4i:-ing. Koine of the great medicine firms pay their advertising agent as high as- ion thousand dollars a year, and certain manufactures of soap pav6 his advertiser twentyfive thousand. Just think it, and while you aro thinking just remembe that "She Couldn't Marry Three" is the best show on tho road.

.Tacob llesler, the uncle of yBung Voorhees whose exploit was the talk of yesterday, called at THE JOCIINAI- office this morning to state that he was not with his jovial nephew Wednesday night and knew nothing of his tear until he was brought to the hotel. He was not in the city on that day coming in from Hillsboro on midnight train. THE .ToviiN'Ai/ri account of yesterday certainly meant no reflection on Mr. llesler as any reader can see, but for all that he wants it distinctly understood that he had nothing to do with it. Mr. llesler is straight goods and is glad that his team has been found. (tfie'ers Grimes and Brothers brought it in lust night from the farm of Tom Hall where it had stopped. Voorhees was taken to his home in Hillsboro to-day, and it is thought will bo all right in the course of a few weeks.
