Night Boxes Needed.
Other places smaller than Crawfordsvillo have at-the railway stations mai boxes which the postal clerks, passing through are obliged to open. These letters can be mailed up to the time the train passes through and often a long delay is saved. Letters mailed at the ollice after seven o'clock" in the evening do not get'off until the following day. This fact often thwarts the very purpose for which letters are written, thev arriving at their destination too Into to be of service.
Ladies' Eeceptiou.
Last evening between the hours Of four and seven Mrs. S. C. Campbell was at himie to her lady friends at her residence on College Hill. The house was handsomely di-eorated for the occasion with plants, llowors and shaded lights. About sc-venty-iive guests were entertained and in a.most hospital and charming manner. Tiie refreshments which weie t—rvi'd-daring the hours of receiving were of a most dainty and elegant nature and the whole affair \y lh a splendid social success.

A rumor beennio current on the streets yesterday that IL B. Warner A Co., one of the most prominent Industrial Institutions of America, and whicti has boen capitalized in London, was about to double its common stock. The standing and importance of this Company in the financial world quite naturally caused this rumor to become tho subject ot much conversation and comment. The phenomenal suooess which this Company has attained, and the large dividends it has paid, naturally made the rumor important and justified an investigation. Therefore a representative of this paper called at the Now York office of the Company, 50 Broadway, in order to ascertain the falsity or verify the truth of the rumor.
Mr. Warner, tho President of tho company, is a genial gentleman, beaming with kindness and good nature, but he became quite uncommunicative when approached by the writer. "Mr. Warner, it is reported that H. IL Warner A Co., is about to double its common stock. Is that so
Who told you that J" asked the gentleman in surprise. It is a current rumor. Are you prepared to deny it?
Mr. Warner thought carefully for a few moments and then said: "Frankly I think auch will be the 'case. The fact is, tho business was capitalized at far too low a figure originally as its earnings and dividends
clearly show. Both earnings an'.'., divi
dends justify three times the presec'i, amount of the common stock. I w»s so convinced of this when it was originally capitalized that I purchased in the open market on the Loudon Stoc'^ Exchange, a large proportion of tho common stock myself at 50 per co-jt.. above its par
rking hard value, well knowing it was the best instated yester- vestment I coo'.d make: Subsequent ready for tho events have verified my belief."
"May I nsk what the earnings have beeu?"
Certainly. It is no socret. The first year 0 per cent, was paid on the debenture bonds, per cent, upon the the preferred and 17^ per cent, upon the common stock, while 8230,G68 was carried to reserve fund. For the second year (J.per cent, was paid upon the, debenture bond, 8 per cent, upon ftjf preferred and 171 per cent, upon the common stock, while 830G,000 of tho debenture bonds were canceled and S100,000 was carried to reserve fund.In round figures the company has earned during the pust two years over 81,000,000. Tho earnings in the United States alone for the seven years prior to its capitalization waa about 83,000,000. Thus you see the business since its capitalization has largely increased in earning capacity."
"That is certainly a most wonderful showing. Have you any idea that il will continue?"
"I believe it will double. While the Safe Cure is the moet popular remedy in America, Australia, England and Germany to-day, it has never beeu introduced into France and Belgium, where we are about putting
market. Not only that, but wo are now manufacturing a baking powder,.which, as you are ow.re, i8 one of the most profitable ot businesses, one concern in this cowotry having mado an annual profit of 11 million dollars for several years. Theno facts lead me to believe that the earnings of the Company c»n easily be doubled."
"How niany common slmr"n nro there?"

"Thirty-five thousand of £10 each, which amounts in our money to a trille less than SI,700,000." "Will every holder of tho stock receive double the amount of his stock in the event that this change is effected?" "Most certainly. That will be a necessity. Quite naturally, the present holders are pleased at this prospect, and are holding on to it quite tenaciously. I however, am such a believer in the fact that tho talking public is the best advertising medium as to be willing tr, allow a limited number ot my shares to be secured by the right prrlies." ••I or what purpose
1 or the purpose ot seeur-ing what we call free advertising. Everyone holding a few hares of thip ^Ptoek will bo a zealous advocate of tho merits of the business in which his money is invested. I would not under any circumstances part with more than ten per cent, of my holdings, which amount to some 82,000,000 and only then to those who are my patrons. I would not consent to sell more than twenty shares of the common or ten shares each of coiiir mon and preferred to any one individual. Ihe rate for these shares ip, $75 for the common and 850 for t'je. preferred stock, their par value boiag So0 each."
"And how may these iv. -ot«ined "By applying t0 thi Central Trust Company, No. 51, vVall street, Xew °rk If. H. Warii^' i- Co., KochesUr, N. \., or to my K^w York City office. No. 50, Broadway. Ten percent, otthe purchase price ast accompany the application, when the stock will be issued by the Central 'Trust Company and delivered. when the balance is paid."
"And b.ow about tbe accrued dividocdB?"
'The buyers of theso shares participate in the profits of the business from the 31st day of July last, and they will flso participate in the doubling or the common stock or the company, in case hat is decided upon."
There can be little doubt that this large Industrial Company, which manufactures Warner's Safe Cure and Warner's Safe Yeast, which is placing a baking powder upon the market, and which haBits branches in successful operation in nearly every civilized country upon the globe, will soon double its stock. Parties who have felt the beneficial effocts of tho- Safe Cure, and who have seen the thousands of poople who have been restored to health by its use, can readily understand the secret of its prosperity. Tt is founded upon ihe needs of the public, and hence is popular with the public. Such people, if any there be, who are seeking an investment certainly cannot do better than to se•fflttre the few shares of this stock which can now be obtained, and which are more than likely to double in value, besides paying, an they have always paid, most handsome dividends.
