Appeals to Your Intelligence. When all is said there is certainly a wonderful satisfaction when leaving a theatre to feel that you have seen something you can recall with delight t'o have seen a story developed ihat has ox cited your interest you have laughed uproariously at fun that happened naturally and which was not dragged in, in such a senseless fashion as to bo an insult to your intelligence. Such play is "She Couldn't Marry Throe." The plot is wholesome: the fun unceasing thesongs new and catchy: the scenery superb the climaxes thrilling, and the company headed by that piquant little ray of sunlighe, Miss Lillian Kennedy, one of the best on the road.

This leaves the situ-ation-worse than before if possible as nothing can now be done until after hotly contested legal fight.

THE LEAP YEAR HOf,

A Very Large Attendance and a Most Enjoyable AfFair. The initial leap year dance in Crawfordsvillo occurred last evening at tho P. O. S. of A. armory and is pronounced by everyone to have been an unqualified and magnificent success. As early as 7 o'clock the streets wore filled with cabs bearing the young ladies to the homes of their gentlemen company, who sat no loubt clutching their roses nervously and with their poor lender little hearts almost beating their ribs out at tho thought of the lonely ride in tho closed ul with the ladies who wero likely to tickle them under their chins, muss their hair and do a thousand awful things before the dancing hall was reached. As no startling attentions of such a nature have been reported, howover, we presume that such fears were groundless. The ladies marohed bravely up to the houses of their fair ones through tho rain and presented their cards to the mammas of their young nen, who looked at thein over their spectacles with mild aud awe struck wonder, thinking no doubt of how i-hings had changed since they were young and frivolous. When the blushing young men appeared they wero tenderly lifted into the cab and as tenderly lifted out again when tho destination was reached. When the young Indies •vent into the dressing room they took ihe gentlemen's dance programmes in with them and when thov reappeared ihoso programmes had been filled, nearly everyone of them marked for tho twen-ty-four dances. The tloor was uncomfortably full at times aud was also a little too well waxed, causing several to receive hard falls, but for all that the lance was nimply charming. Tho only chances offered to the gentlemen to choose partners were in the two "gent" choice,'' and tho door on both theso occasions presented an animated scene, t'aildlon Brothers of Iudianapolis, furnished the music and it was a most excellent character. It has been rarely, indeed, that a more pleasant hop has occurred, as everyone of the following who were present can attest

IS TT AN OIL WELL?

Citizens of the South End Excited Over a Bubbline Spring of Ooal Oil. Tiie jieoplo in the south end all waded out through tho mud to-dav to view tho wonderful coal oil spring which is gaily spouting away in the hollow which is crossed by the road running south from Pal MeManr.is' grocery. Just at the little bridge which crosses tho branch is the spring ihe llow of which is from the southeast. The oil pours out in quito a little stream and all day the enterprising people residing in tho vicinity have been collecting tho oil in various receptacles and carrying it to. their homes for use It burns as any other oil and even lacks the objectionable attributes of most crude oil. Some of. those who have visited the coal oil spring protost that it is a spring from the bowels of tho earth and that drilling would do velop a mighty llow of oil. Others doubting, state that it is a leak from the tankH of the Oil Company and that tho oil percolating through tho ground for the distance of three squares hm burst out at this point in tho form of a spring. The rather pure state of tho oil upholds Lhls theory but tho ct that the llow issues from a southeasterly rather than a northeasterly direction opposes it. Meanwhile the good people go 011 dipding up oil and enjoy tho fun immensely.
