Jf '.here was any ono in the large audience that, assembled in Mechanic'sUall last night to hear l'rofesssr DeMotte's lecture on "Enchanting Sounds and Those Who Make Them,'- who expected, from the title of the lecture, to be treated to a dry sort of discourse fitted only for a class of university students, he found before many minutes in the hall that Lid was most agreeably disappointed. The lecture was nothing of the kind, [t was tclear, exhaustive and most interesting treatment of the whole subject 'relating to sound and its transmission, as well as its relation to music, and was listened to throughout by the audience with rapt attention. The lecture may fairly'be described as one of the most nteresting and instructive given fur a long time in Mechanic's Hall.— H'orccx-

The French Folly Girls.:.
Speak'ng of the Frenoh Folly Company which appears at Music Hall Thursday evening the Toledo Bhuh' says: "It is another enterprise of Bobby Manchester of "Night Owl fame, and is under the management of the favorite comedian Sam Bernard. It is an ambitious organization, and in its tirst. part has attempted to outshine tin most perfect spectacular productions The opening scene is said to be a verit able sensation of the resources of the scenic artist and the costumer. Bright specialty artists contribute toward an olio thaUis so far above the average, in eluding such well-known artists as Sam Bernard, Smith and Lord, Miss Lizzi Raymond, the Wood Sisters, late of the Wood family, Fitzgerald and Kelly
Irish song and dance artists, and Miss May Adams, she of the phenomenal vo'ce."

Senator Zach Chandler was found lead in his lied at the Grand Pacific Hotel.
Secretary Windom died while speakng at a banquet. Senator Beck dropped insensible in the Potomac Depot on tho exact spot where President Garfield was shot.
Secretary Folger worked to the last and died without warning. Senator Tom Corwin expired at a reeption while talking with Salmon P. Chase, Ben Wade, Senator Schenck and John Sherman.
The"Hon. Hannibal Hamlin died at the club while chatting with his friends. Minister Pendleton passed away while seated in a railroad train.
Senator Charles Sumner, Massachusetts pride, died suddenly, working faithfully to the hour of his death.
Sonator Simon Cameron feels the mysterious creeuings of paralysis and falls in the arms of his friends.
Salmon P. Chase passec away peacefully while seated at his desk with his pen in his hand.
Vice-President Wilson died after emerging from the Senate bath room John Quincy Adams dropped in his chair in the House of Representatives.
And so tho list might bo prolonged. Tt would include such brilliant names as Senator Matt Carpenter, Secretary of the Treasury Daniel Manning, ex-Presi-dent Arthur, the Hon. Thus. 11. Benton, Senator Ferry and many others.
These men died suddenly and without warning, but the significant fact in connection with their deaths is thu.t tho cause in each case was the same. It may have been called "heart disease," or "apoplexy," but what is heart disease or apoplexy? Simply a result, not a cause. Overwork and overindulgence weaken certain groat organs. From the weakness of these organs the blood becomes poisoned, clots the heart and clogs the brain. Do you ask what thesejorgans are? The kidneys and liver. None of these groat men would have died as they did had.their kidneys and liver been in order. PhysicianB realize this truth, and vhe more intelligent men and women are beginning to find it out. Not only this, but thoy have found out tho way of preventing this gradual undermining of the life and the coming on of sudden death.
Read what thoy say: Dr. Iloesch of Berlin, Germany, assorts: have been the victim of palpitation of the heart, and upon taking tho least cold the symptoms would become alarming. This has entirely disappeared under the use of Warner's Safe Cure, and I am perfectly well and strong."
Dr. R. A. Gunn, Dean of -"the Tfnited States Medical College, New York, declares: I am independent enough and frank enough to commend most heartily that great remedy, Warner's Safe Cure."
Tho Rev. J. E. Rankin, D. D., of Washington, D. C., allirmg: "I know physicians of the highest charaater and standing who prescribe and uso Warner's Safe Cure for diseases of the kidneys and urinary organs. I desire in the interests of humanity to recommend this medicino.''
Great men may pass away suddenly and loavo a warning to others who are overworking or [overindulging, The slender thread of life may be strained, but it need not bo snapj ed if care and tho right preventive remy ly are

DEAFttESS CAN'l BE CURED by local applications, as they cannot reach the diseased portion of the ear.
There is only one way to cure deafness, and that is by constitutional remedies. Deafness is caused by an inflamed condition of the mucous lining of the Eustachian Tube. When this tube gets inflamed you have a rumbling sound or imperfect hearing, and when it is entirely closed, Deafness is the result, aud unless the inflammation can be taken out and this tube restored to its normal condition, hearing will be destroyed foreyer nine cases out of ten are caused by catarrh, which is nothing but an inflamed condition of the mu cous
