The Republicans of Franklin township last Saturday selected the following delegates: To Brazil: J. H. Steward and S. S. Martin to Indianapolis, J. M. llollingsworth to Ft. Wayne, Daniel Lewis and J. A. Berryman. Delegates will choose their own alternates.

.—The Supreme Court has reversed the decision of this courfein the action brought by George Grimes, of Ladoga, against the Monon road. The Judge here sustained tho demurrer to the complaint. Bronson Howard's greatest triumph "Shenandoah" which has mot with such pronounced sweess in New York, Bos ton, Chicago arid San Francisco, will be presented at Music Hall for 0110 performance on Friday. Feb. 1!), in the same manner in regard to cast, scenery and effects as seen du ing its long run in the abovo cities. Tho nicety with which the love interest is blended with the incidents of war, is the keynote of "Shenandoah's" very great success. It is said to be everywhere ]ermeated with a sentiment of deep patriotism, but through the rattle of musketry run the beautiful love stories which makeup the lives of the heroes and heroines The play is said to be the first piece of a military order which has intelligently represented tactics of war, even the system of signalling on fire being givon. Tn the third act is shown a picture of a battle scene on tho skirts of an engagement, and it is claimed to bo the greatest scene ever presented on tho Amorcan stage. It will bo played by the same cast as seen 300 nights inXew York.

Death of Mrs. Jacob Sprow. Mrs. Annie Sprow, aged 21) years, wife of Jacob Sprow, died this morning at :HU o'clock at her home on south Washington street. She had been sick a long time and hor death was not unexpected. She loaves a husband and two small children. The deceased was sister of Mrs. Neisfadt.

Never .Been on the Oars.

Clarcrice Petorman, the defendant, in the divorce case, has never been on the cars although living on tho railroad all his life. He has been one of the chief business hustlers of Mace for several years and his timidity in regard to the cars is remarkable to say tho least. In addition to novor having been on the cars Mr. Peterman made his debut in a barber's chair last Tuesday evening, when for the first time he had his hair cut by a tonsorial artist. Previous to that time he had never been in a barber's chair.

Dr. Kelly is the guest of Ins mother, Mrs. Nancy Evans. John Myers is not much improved. He suffers great pain.

Miko Lane has purchased a farm near Lebanon and will soon move there. The convention was held in such a remote place that we have not heard from it yet.

W. B. Rodman will hold a review term here this spring beginning April 1. In connection with the common branches he will instruct, in the high school grade.

Mrs. Nancy Evans died suddenly Tuesday morning of heart failure. She was 76 years old and a faithful member of the M. E. church. Slie passed away leaving a host of friends to mourn her loss.

Tho small son of John Petticord had three of his lingers on his right hantl almost mashed off. He was feeding a cutting machine when his hand was caught in between tho cogs cutting his lingers in a shocking manner. --My,'

INDIANATOLIS,

Ind., Feb. 18.—At 3

o'clock Wednesday morning Mrs. Fisher, residing on Henry street, awoke to find her wrist in the viselike grip of a burglar, who also held a knife across her throat. The robber told her to mnke no outcry or ho would kill her, and at the same time demanded to be taken where her money was concealed. Mrs. Fisher was in the act of complying when a daughter, sleeping in an adjoining room, appeared, and tho burglar lied. .Toe Fisher, tho son of Mrs. Fisher, was aroused, and with a friend named McAllister gave chase. On Illinois street they came upon two men, one of whom took to his heels. The other was arrested, lie was taken before Mrs. Fisher and daughter, who identified him. The prisoner's name is Michael Apjohn, a harnessmalcer, who has hitherto borne a good reputation.

Intl., Feb. IS.—Daniel

Havilin was arrested Wednesday by .Sheriff Turner and Marshal Walker at F.nglewood charged with arson and defrauding an insurance company out of S'.ISO. .Some time ago llavilin moved to the Northrup farm and put in a stock of fine horses. He had everything heavily insured. About six weeks ago the large barn where these horses were stabled was fired and the insurance company made the loss good. It is now shown that Ilavlin shipped his fanyy stock to Grand Junction, Mich., tho night before the barn burned and substituted a lot of crippled horses for them.

noon. while the rain was descending in torrents, Squire D. M. lludelson heard a halloo, and upon going to the dooi was confronted by a couple on horseback who wanted to be joined in the holy bonds of wedlock. He was directed to go ahead and tie them together for life as they sat on their horses. The proper license being produced, he propounded the usual questions and pronounced them husband and wife according tc the stdtute. The groom was William Toliner and his bride Miss Minnie li. The International Machinists' union has taken hold of the matter and lias Sent a man here with full power to tall out all the machinists on the system if necessary. Superintendent Darlington says the matter is settled so far as the company is concerned. The men would not be employed again under any consideration, and, as for treating with discharged men, that is not the policy of his coinpanv.

ligan. chief electrician for the Wabasli Klectric Company, narrowly escaped death Tuesday night. The fuel used at the works is crude oil. stored in a large underground tank near the ailding. This tank was being filled from a car and Calligan in passing the tank with a lantern fell and threw the lantern to the ground, thuf igniting the gas and causing an awfui explosion, lie was so badly burnec that his life was for a time, despaired of. Considerable damage was done tt the building.
