A Sunday Diversion.

The home of Mrs. Hampton was the scene of quite a little misunderstanding vest rday which resulted in ollicer Huffman being called in to arbitrate in the name of the red-eyed law. Mr. Leeke is a worthv fanner who while in town puts up with Mrs. Hampton as r. boarder and, us that lady declares, "always pays his board." Well, good Mr. Leeke was there yesterday when in come Lan Hampton. Lon was in a pugnacious inood and seemed to question the right of his motlmr's boarder to be about tho house. Ho finally grew so demonstrative that Mr. Leeke took refugo in tho bed room and locked the door to save himself from rough treatment, and maybe the loss of his ears. Tho whole tribe were weeping copiously when the police arrived and went away with Leeke and Alonzo. Sirs. Hampt* ton has probably lost a worthy and high priced boarder.

Crnwfordaviilo now only needs an street car lino to make lier tho model city of the world. She has good wiiler works system, a light that makes guiding star for many thousand weary souls. Crawfordsville is the proud possessor of (mother institution, not so large as tho water or light plants but almost as important to tho hard working man, something that is the tradomen's pride, and-something that will supply all the cravings of the most delicate stomach in existence). hat is that institution?

It is a bakery.and confectionary located ou south Green street, opposite Music Mall.. We say this bakery is important to you because it is. Whv

yoii life, strength and vigor. So you see it is necessary for you to eat the best, purest and freshest bread, pies and candy the market will afford.

Xnw we do not ".e.Bt-rlise home-made bread, because bakersxloii't make it, as anybody who is a good cook knows. It is no use to beguile you into buying our broad by taking a name that suits you and applying it to bread that it don suit. Wo simply say that we make more bread than' any bakery in vour eitv. Best,

Why" Because it is the

the, best baker in th.e cily a-td have to pay him a good salary. We don't- lis.any a\im to bleach our bread hence we must use nothing but the best- of material in our broad in order to get the perfect loaf we always produce.

Anotiier reason is this, wo make tV largest loaf in tho city. If you 'don't believe it put it on the scales thev wou'i lie. That is to your advantage for in six of our loaves you get as much bread as ainbody else gives vou for 2-" cents and when you buy one loaf vou get five cents worth and not three. People, think this matter over ami vou will see that we can save yon money and at the same time give you good 'substantial healthy bread. We will not say much about cakes this time, only that eggs are high and some bakers say there is no money in them. We admit that, but at the same time keep a full line tit plain and fancy cakes on hand all the time. If we did not keep cakes 'now for the accommodation of customers when cg^s are scarce and high prieeti could we expect- you to patroni/.o us when they are cheap? We iv, -N so you see it is our aim to accommodate you at all seasons of the year. Come and examine our stock.

Tt Scared Some People.

Tho Aurora Borealis as seen Saturday evening was exceptionally fine and the oldest inhabitant can remember no better display. It was not unexpected among scientists as a large sun spot last week aad heralded its coming. In some sectiois it- caused wide spread dismay. At Bloomiugton a number of Brown couni\ farmers were in town with their o'\ teams and upon the appearance of the piienomenon became impressed with th, exhilerating idea that the end of tht world had come. Some went lashing their teams for their native hills in l'.rown county, while others, blockaded the numerous BloomingtOn bar room intent on getting one more drink before Mnal consignment to the never ending flames. The people of Brown count arj somewhat peculiar. No railroadV infest the county and most or the in habitants thereof scare at the cars when they venture out or their native jungles ijl.o th" busy realms of civilization.
