Superintendents of ttie Several Departments Elested and Other Business Transacted.

The Mongoraory County Agricultural Association hela its regular meeting this morning and transacted soma important businss*. Supt. Zuck and Trustee Ha*tman appeared in the interest of the schools and after some discussion the board voted $72 to bo expended in prizes for children's day. This was acceptable to the school representatives. Superintendents for tho differont departments were then elected as follows:

Speed—J. J. Inaley and R. B. Snyder. Horses—J. A. Mount, W. II. Montgomery and J. N. Fullenwider.

Mules—W. Z. McBee. Beef Cattle—S. G. Durham and Asher Wert.

Dairy Cattle—J. N. Davidson. Sheep—Hannibal Trout. Swine—Jack MoConnick, Isaac Davia and J. H. Servioe.-

Poultry—Ben S. Myers. Agriculture—T. B. MoClamrock. Grain and Seed—Arch Bailey. Dome8tic Skill—Mrs. D. H. Martin and Mrs. J. C. Maxwell.

Fruits, Pickles, eto.—Mrs. Arch Bailey and Mrs. T. B. McClamrock. Stalla and Straw—David Trout.

Bees and Honey—Jacob Hutton.: Horticulture—Arch Bailey. Implementa, Machinery, Etc.—Arch Martin.

Those latter gentlemen will select their own assistants. At the board's next meeting on the first Saturday in March the premium list will bo revised and all persona interested in the fair aro invited to attend and make suggestions. Every one interested is also requested and cordially invited to offer suggestions as to prizes to tho heads of tho several departments before that time. Such service will lie appreciated aa it is by the co-operation of all [that the best results are attained.

A Peculiar Accident.

There is a wailing among tho children of miller J. W. McICeen over the IOSB

of

a large and valuable pet dog. Tho dog mot his fate in tho performance of his duty and in a strange and tragic way. Ho was in the furnace room of the mill on west Market street when a largo rat started across tho floor. With an excited yelp the dog leaped after it and the rat in wild terror rushod squarely through tho furnaco door. The dog blinked by excitement and eagerness went after it right into tho soothing flames. Tho persons in the room heard aj agonized howl and that was all. Impelled by his momentum the poor animal had rushed to the center of the fire, when,of course, he died almost instantly. Tho aceident was a most peculiar one and everybody mourns the loss of the dog, which was a great pet among tho employes of tho mill as well as among the children of Mr. McKeen.

Union Meeting To-morrow Night. Tho Young People's Societies of Christian Endeavor of thia city, organized under the name of tho Crawfordsvillo Local Union, will hold a meeting to-morrow night at 7:30 o'clock in the First Presbyterian church.- There will be several short pu])«rs read by members of tho various societies, and in addition the pastor will discuss the matter of the Sunday closing or the World's Fair and tho alliance of the World's Fair commissioners with the Liquor League. A largo chorus choir will lend tho singing, This meeting will take tho place of the regular Sunduy evening services in the churches that have Christian Endeavor Societies. The young people are anticipating a good time at this meeting. All are cordially invited to bo present.

The Kingfishers Entertain. The Kingfishers Camping Club was royally entertained last evening by Mr, and Mra. W. T. Brush at their home on south Water stroet. A magnificent sup per had been prepured and every guest did it ample justice. After tho dining hour had passed tho time was passed until a lato hour in merriment of all kinds. The jolly camping club was at its jolliest and never has ono of their affairs been more enjoyable than that of last evening. Mr. and Mrs. Brush aro accomplished entertainers, as all who partook of their hospitality last even ing can bear witness.

Burprise Party.

Yesterday was the eighteenth birth day of Ed Dennis and in honor of the event tho high school class of '94, of which he is a member, was invited in to surprise him in tho ovening. The class twenty-five in number, did so in a most thorough, although acceptable manner and a most pleasant evening was passed The rofroshments were of tho finest quality and the time was beguiled by music and vnrious amusements.
