The Revival Increases.

Last night the Methodist church was well filled and the interest in the meeting was greatly increased. Kev. Swaden»r preached from I John v-4. "This is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith." The sermon was was a very interesting one and very appropriate to tho occasion. The audience was greatly moved bv the words of the minister and many saw the value of tho victory over the world and the temptations of sin, by the exercise of faith in Jeeus Christ. The meeting IB held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. To-night there will lie a watch night meeting. The following is the programme in the general outline. There will be a song service at 7 o'clock, continuing for half an hour. From 7:30 until 0 o'clock, Rev. Swadener will preach and conduct an after sermon service. From 9 until 10 o'clock the time will be taken by tho pastors or the different churches—Revs. R. J. Cunningham, P. Fuson, S. W. Brown and R. S. Inglis. Theso pastors have promised to be present if not unavoidably detained elsewhere nnd the time will lie profitably sp»nt. in having words of encouragement and admonition from them. At 10:30 there will be a praiso service and at 11:30 eonsecia tion meeting. The Now Year will be welcomed by greetings aud praise. Let the people attend any service they ea:. to-night. It will be in order to sjiem' portion of the evening at the church or all the evening. Lot the old year watched ont and the new year welcomed. There wil. be no afternoon service tomorrow but the usual service in the evening.

Bills' Eccentricities.

Bill Stoiu was taken to the insane asylum at Indianapolis this afternoon for treatment. Stein was released from the asylum several months ago as cured but last Saturday he engaged in s, bloody fight with Wes Foster, and was so worked up that ho went off tho handle again. His delusions have been very numerous and he has a new ono every fow hours. Yesterday morning he hunted over his coll for two hours" looking for a pump that would spout hickory nuts and lemonade and for-got-me-not in it. Later ho tore up his clothes to feed the spotted wild lxy, and along toward evening he fancied that ho was Miss Mary Liverinoro feeding the chickens on the Chicago board of trade. All day to-day he fancied himself to be immensely wealthy, having made a fortune on his patent picklo puncher. He stood out at tho Big Four station and announced that he intended to buy the whole United States as soon aB he arrived in Indianapolis. Ho further announced to the crowd that gathered around that he intended to turn the entire government over to tho women and allow them to run it for about a hundred years in order that they might put a stop to base ball and church socials. When the train arrived he wanted to ride the cow catcher in order to beat the curs into Indianapolis, but office: Grimes concluded that he had better go over in the smoker.

Death of Mrs. Ulara A. Shipp. Mrs. Clara A. Shipp, aged 31 years, died this morning nt 9 o'clock at the residence of H. P. Ensminger, on oast Main street. Mrs. Shipp was taken with tho grip about a year ago and never recoveri from its effects. Tho illation of an abscess was, however, the direct catiso of her death. 111! funen will occur Saturday afternoon at two o'clock, R. J. Cunningham officiating, ussisted by Rev. G. P. Fuson.

Airs. Clara Austin Nicholson was born here on May 11, 1852, and here passed hor life. On February 14, 1876, she was married to James T. Shipp, and one son, Floyd, now aged 13, was boin to her. Airs. Shipp had an exceedingly largo circle of friends and acquaintances in Crawfordsville who will profoundly mourn her loss. She was possessed of a beautiful and a Christian character, being a consistent member of the Center Presbyterian church. She was possessed of a rure and sympathetic nature which made her loved and admired by all with whom sho came in contact. The manly little son whom she leaves behind has the sympathy of all in his terrible bereavement, and no better wish could be. for him than that he may grow up possessed of the many beautiful traits of character which ennobled the sweet lady whose soul passed out- with the dying year.

A Battle Anniversary.

Twenty-nine years ago to-day began the three days' battle of Stone's River which was fought near Murfreosboro, Tenn., on the 31st of December, 1802, and the 1st and 2nd days of Junuary, 1863, and memorable as one of the most sanguinary contests of the war. Alontgouiery county was represented in that engagement by boys in the 10th, 17th, 40th,72d,86th and other regiments. Many of them left their lives on the battlefield, others were maimed for life, and still others found their final resting place in Southern prisons. Those who survived and are still living, although but boys then, are now on the shady side of life. "Peans for the living and dirges for the dead."
